Parksons Packaging is one of the biggest Rapida users in India. More than 100 printing and finishing units are in operation at the packaging manufacturer’s eight production facilities. Now more are being added: within the biggest single order from India to date Parksons Packaging is investing in four high-performance Rapida 106 presses in extended medium format. The presses, most of them with six printing units and coating equipment – a total of 29 printing and finishing units – will in turn be deployed at several of the production sites spread across the subcontinent.
One of the four presses, a Rapida 106 with seven inking units and coating equipment, has already been installed at the Rajpura plant in the northern Indian state of Punjab. Another is on its way to Sri City in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The third press will be delivered in December and the fourth in April next year.
Medium- and half-format packaging printing
By April 2023 Parksons Packaging will have 17 Koenig & Bauer sheetfed presses installed and in production, mainly in medium format but also one in half format (max sheet size 530 x 750 mm). That adds up to over 130 printing and finishing units.
Even beyond these new investments Parksons Packaging is on course for growth. The packaging printer acquired Manohar Packagings, a group specialising in the production of spirits packaging with plants in Goa and Rajpura, at the end of last year. With this, Parksons now has eight production facilities at seven locations – in Rudrapur, Chakan, Daman, Goa, Rajpura, Sri City and Guwahati.
Rapida technology with high productivity
The Parksons Packaging team consistently attests to the high productivity of Koenig & Bauer sheetfed offset presses. Job changeover times have frequently been reduced by 30 to 40 per cent through their use.
