ACTEGA, manufacturer of specialty coatings, inks, adhesives and sealing compounds with a focus on the packaging and printing industry, today announces the launch of its range of sustainable, water-based overprint varnishes, ACTGreen Sustainable Coatings, to the Brazilian market. The ACTGreen coatings portfolio has been developed for use on folding cartons, publications, and commercial prints and represents a significant opportunity for Brazilian printers and converters to advance their contribution to sustainable practices within the industry.
ACTEGA’s ACTGreen Sustainable Coatings combine ACTEGA’s characteristic expertise and innovation with the company’s clear and committed focus on providing more environmentally friendly solutions. Products in this range include both recycled raw materials of fossil origin as well as bio-based materials. Depending on functionality and desired properties, coatings can have a sustainability of more than 60%, referring to the coating’s solids content. This makes them a greener alternative to traditional coatings, but with the same technical properties.
The portfolio of the ACTGreen Sustainable Coatings includes coatings for a dull matt to gloss finish, for both standard and premium applications. The different coatings within the range offer fast drying, high wet block resistance, and scuff resistance. A hot foil-stampable coating and products designed for two-sided varnishing are also available.
“The topic of sustainable solutions and technologies is no longer a niche issue. Industries around the globe are feeling the pressure to take responsible steps towards incorporating environmentally friendly alternatives within their businesses. With ACTGreen Sustainable Coatings now available in Brazil, local printers and converters have a real opportunity to do this,” explains Edgar Luiz Fernandes, Business Line Manager Paper & Board for South America at ACTEGA. “By using sustainable overprint varnishes in their production processes, our customers can demonstrate more responsible use of raw materials, while delivering the same high-standard results their customers have come to expect. We’re excited to be able to present this portfolio now in Brazil and look forward to discussing the numerous benefits of switching to ACTGreen coatings with customers who are striving to improve the environmental impact of their businesses.”
