Environmentally friendly and efficiency-enhancing further development of the MBO pallet feeder

Friday 19. November 2021 - MBO is using the Alliance Days 2021 in Solms to present the latest developments in the field of pallet feeders. MBOs research and development department wanted to develop a more efficient, environmentally friendly solution that also works even more effectively.

According to development manager Sebastian König, this has been achieved: “The innovations affect several areas of the feeder. Among other things, we have revised the air flow, which is now much more efficient. We also use a regulated pump that only runs when needed. In this way, valuable energy is saved.”
New separation head Vacujet / Vacujet RS
The newly developed Vacujet / Vacujet RS separating head is the logical further development of the Vaculift / Vaculift RS, which has been very successfully established for many years, and is characterised by improved, ergonomic operability. It has a clear increase in efficiency and productivity. Depending on the paper, the Vacujet separating head achieves a cycle rate of up to 22,000 cycles per hour; with the Vacujet RS separating head, up to 25,000 cycles per hour are possible. The application spectrum of the new separation head clearly stands out from the systems that have existed on the market up to now.
Improved air flow in the pallet feeder
The Vacujet RS includes a redesign of the pallet feeder. The pallet feeder now has an improved air flow and thus a higher output. The lifting unit has been equipped with a pneumatic cylinder, which increases its durability. In addition, the adjustment elements have been moved further down, making the feeder easier to adjust and operate for small people.
Environmentally friendly high-performance pressure vacuum pump
Furthermore, the pallet feeder is optionally equipped with a new high-performance pressure vacuum pump, which no longer adjusts the air supply constantly, but individually to the process and regulates it according to exact demand. This energetically very efficient and thus environmentally friendly solution consumes less than 50% of the energy compared to conventional pumps on the market. In addition, the new pump is equipped with a ventilated noise damping device that significantly reduces noise emissions.
Increased suction power for sheet infeed
For years, MBO’s Vivas system has reliably ensured flat sheet infeed and optimum sheet travel with high conveying force. Vivas guarantees freedom from marking even with sensitive and freshly printed products. The double vacuum belt for sheet infeed has been redesigned and now has four valves with increased suction power. This enables a further increase in overall performance.
Conversion options for existing folders
Those who wish to benefit from the new developments do not necessarily have to invest in a new folding machine. A number of folders with pallet feeders can be retrofitted. Whether your own folding machine can be converted must be checked on a case-by-case basis.
