Full-Service Marketing and Mailing Operation Transitions to Inkjet with Truepress Jet520NX

Thursday 09. September 2021 - SCREEN Americas announces two consecutive sales of the Truepress Jet520NX series to The Calmark Group of Bedford Park, Illinois. Both presses include the black enhanced option, a high-speed monochrome feature that enables achieving speeds up to 180 meters per minute.

Success Leads to Purchase of Second Press
The Calmark Group is one of the first companies in the United States to purchase this added component available on the Truepress Jet520NX series.
The Calmark Group, a full-service direct marketing and mailing company, turned to SCREEN Americas to improve efficiency. As an operation that mails approximately 3.5 million pieces per day, the printer needed to eliminate the makeready time required with offset presses, particularly the time required with preprinted rolls and plate changing. “We are now able to take the artwork and data and go directly to the press,” said Robert Doyle, chief executive officer of The Calmark Group. Doyle also credits the Truepress Jet520NX with his ability to acquire three new accounts whose print jobs require the digital component needed for variable data functions.
Having the ability to create a seamless transition to the finishing portion of the printing process was also instrumental in The Calmark Group’s decision to invest in SCREEN’s technology, especially since many of the printer’s end products require perforation. The Truepress Jet520NX offers an open interface and various configurations allowing it to link smoothly with finishing equipment from various manufacturers. The Calmark Group chose a system from EMT International to complement the Truepress Jet520NX.
With the first Truepress Jet520NX in operation since the spring of 2021 and the second on its way, The Calmark Group plans to transition all of its print jobs to SCREEN’s technology.
For more than 50 years, The Calmark Group, located just outside of Chicago, Illinois, has been one of the leading mailing and fulfillment operations in the United States. It was rewarded with an exhibit at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum in Washington, D.C., for its contributions to the mailing industry.
