New COLOR TUNER and FLEX PACK versions available

Thursday 12. August 2021 - Less than twelve months ago CGS ORIS presented cutting edge software updates, which included many new technical features and, at the same time, started a brand new chapter with the completely redesigned graphic user interface.

Color management and proof specialist CGS ORIS releases new software versions – with a clear added value and an additional focus.
Despite corona-related restrictions, the development team has made tremendous progress and developed a wide range of new functions. With key areas of focus on spot color management, proofing on original substrate, the expansion of cloud-based technology as well as the industrial print market.
BigTIFFs, new printers and additional ink sets
CGS ORIS proofing applications now support and process, e.g., photoshop documents or big TIFF files, which are often utilized within the industrial printing market. This new support further enhances the software to enable ease of use and offer greater flexibility.
“Our software is increasingly used by companies within the industrial printing industry. We are closely working together to integrate new functionality that is specifically designed for the industry’s needs to help improve their business even more”, comments Marcus Brune, product manager at CGS ORIS.
Another very important area of focus for CGS ORIS over the last few months has been “direct-to-substrate proofing”. Through great customer feedback, a second Mutoh printer is now supported in FLEX PACK: The Mutoh ValueJet 1628MH with a maximum media width of 1625mm.
Both devices, the Mutoh ValueJet 628MP and the Mutoh Value Jet 1628MH, are leveraging newly developed resin-based XG INKS, which are also made available in Light-Cyan, Light-Magenta, Light-Black and White.
Let’s not forget the continued support of Roland printers either: In addition, the Roland TrueVIS VG2-640/540 with CMYKOGW (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key, Orange, Green and White) ink set is now supported by FLEX PACK.
Simple and effective spot color management
Great advancements have been made in respect to spot color management. New features are now available: For example, a simple to use visual control solution for quickly analyzing which spot colors are in and out of tolerance based on the real time color gamut of a printing device. This feature fully complements the ability to generate detailed spot color reports, which is a tool many customers have relied on for some time.
“With this new capability our customers will have a very easy to use and fast method to analyze target and measurement values of a spot color. It’s our goal to continually provide software which is simple and intuitive”, adds Brune.
Particular attention was paid to the continued development of the cloud technology. “As an early development adopter in this area, we already have many powerful tools available in the market, which we have optimized and expanded continuously. All our applications have a seamless connection to our COLOR CLOUD, where brand and spot colors can be saved and shared easily, quickly and securely. Enabling a central location with global access”, Brune points out.
With the additional option to work with *.scgx files, the exchange of color data has become even more essential for many companies. This is seen in many large multi-site companies, who use the technology to share their up-to-date color data within their entire organization. Many others, are also using the COLOR CLOUD to communicate their color with their external partners throughout their entire supply chain.
Process control and automation
The cloud technology is an integral part of the quality and process control process as well as workflow automation. One new feature optimizes the control of spot colors. This enables additional reports, showing in which manner a spot color can be reproduced and serves as basis for further automation processes.
The function “time-controlled printing” has been expanded with the ability to show automated signals when inks may require attention or maintenance. This function supports an optimized print device management and sustainable working environment.
In addition, features were integrated that optimize the print job editor as well as the ICC profile viewer. They help to optimize the profile adjustment and make the production environment more flexible to support efficient and sustainable workflows.
