Elanders GmbH increases productivity by installing two HP Indigo 100K

Friday 11. September 2020 - Germany company Elanders GmbH is expanding its printer fleet with two HP Indigo 100K. The first model was installed in May while the second press will follow in September this year. With the two new digital presses, the company is strengthening its position as a leader in on-demand and just-in-sequence production.

As part of the Swedish Elanders Group, the company is unifying all parts of the print and packaging sector at the German site; all services related to the processes of digital and printed communication are offered locally. In addition to catalogues and brochures, the product portfolio also includes adhesive-bound books with soft covers.
“We receive print orders from online shops, B2B portals or from our sales representatives. 1,000 orders a day are not unusual – and they are growing quickly,” said Christopher Sommer, Managing Director of Elanders GmbH. “More than ever, automated processes are crucial for the economic efficiency of the entire production. For this reason, we rely on continuous process optimisation and the two new Indigos support us in doing so.”
In addition to the expansion of production capacities, the previous experience with HP technology was a decisive factor in purchasing the two new HP Indigos. “We have been working with HP for over 20 years and our employees are familiar with the HP Indigo devices. From the very beginning, we were convinced by the quality, hence we now use the high-speed inkjet machines in addition to several HP Indigo digital presses. This enables us to cover jobs that are too small for offset printing and not economically feasible for Indigos, such as the production of adhesive-bound books with soft covers. Both technologies have played a key role in making 2019 the most successful business year in our company’s history,” emphasises Sommer.
The HP Indigo 100K is the first fifth generation B2 digital press. It is aimed specifically at print service providers and converters who need to handle increased volumes of digital printing jobs. With a print volume of 6,000 sheets per hour and advanced features such as colour automation, it is designed for maximum productivity. In addition, the HP Indigo 100K is characterised by convenient paper handling and an offset-like gripper-to-gripper design.
“The package that HP has put together for us with the new machines just fits. In addition to the printing speed, we were also impressed by the new inline colour measurement system, which allows us to proof the next job while the current print is still running. Cleaning and maintenance cycles have also been significantly reduced and access to individual components is now easier. This saves us a lot of time and increases our productivity at the same time. With the new HP Indigo presses, we are perfectly positioned in the dramatically changing printing business and are well equipped to meet the requests for the highest quality combined with personalisation and individualisation,” said Sven Burkhard, Managing Director of Elanders GmbH.
