100 days. 100 Commissioned Work Serif publishes details for the COVID-19 support project

Monday 06. April 2020 - Serif, developer of Affinity Photo, designer and publisher, has released more details on how works from 100 submissions will be purchased to mitigate the negative impact of COVID-19 on the creative industry. This initiative is part of the companys efforts to support photographers, designers, artists and other creative professionals who are suffering the economic consequences of the global pandemic.

Serif applies for its initiative “100 days. 100 commissioned works”, Serif is spending a sum equivalent to the usual annual budget for commissioned works. In addition, this initiative focuses on the existing projects of creative professionals, so that no one has to design and realize a new work according to strict specifications.
Serif’s Managing Director Ashley Hewson said: “The key point is that we don’t want to impose on anyone to design something completely new according to strict guidelines now.
“We are always looking for authentic projects that have been realized in affinity apps and we also know that many have already put a lot of work into projects that have been cancelled in the meantime. But we’re equally happy about project alternatives that haven’t been used so far or something completely new that was created just for fun”.
“These are exactly the kind of works we’d like to license. This means that senders should not have to invest a lot of time and effort in something completely new (unless they want to) and might even get paid for an order that a client has cancelled in the meantime. (All quotes translated)
Some examples of work Serif would like to see. Of course there are many other projects possible:
Print documents created in Affinity Publisher, such as flyers, brochures, magazines, reports and book layouts.
Illustrations, graphics and UI design projects created in Affinity Designer, such as website or app layouts, icons, logos and packaging.
Projects created in Affinity Photo, such as portrait retouching, image montages, focus stacking, astrophotography, panoramas, HDR images, fashion and product photography
Entries must be submitted by 12:00 noon (BST) on Monday, April 20 and are limited to one project per entrant. All brand material used in the works, such as logos, names, etc., should be fictitious.
Serif also allows everyone to use their creative app suite on Mac and Windows computers for 90 days free of charge. This use is not bound by any obligations. In addition, there is a 50% discount for those who prefer to buy affinity apps for Mac, Windows or iPad. All apps only need to be paid with a one-time purchase price without any kind of subscription model.
