INX to present INX Color Perfection, UV LED ink performance and metal decorating inks at LATAMCAN

Tuesday 25. February 2020 - As interest continues to grow about the popular INX Color Perfection program, INX International representatives are preparing to discuss the latest updates to it at the Latin American Canmakers Conference (LATAMCAN). Metal decorating experts from INX, the market leader in inks and color management technologies, will deliver invaluable advice about UV ink performance and 3-piece canmaking at the March 4-6 event in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Alex Folloso will lead off the trio of INX speakers. In the 3-piece room on March 5 at 10:30 a.m., the Manager of Metal Decorating R&D will discuss UV Ink Performance as a Function of the UV LED Cure. In the same room the next day on March 6, Jack Knight – industry authority and Global Business Development Director of Rigid Packaging – will lead a group talking about How to Properly make a 3-Piece Can, from 9:30-11 a.m.
Brand owners, designers and metal decorators won’t want to miss the 2:30 p.m. session in the 2-piece room on March 5. That’s when INX Project Manager Sarah Jacks will present Don’t Cloud Your Color Judgment. She will delve into the latest color management solutions for two-piece metal offerings and talk about a new update to the INX 2-Piece Metal Color Catalog that will be launched this spring.
“This presentation will discuss the need for physical color guides, combined with digital color selection tools including our digital color library, to ensure accurate, reproducible color that meets the expectations of the customer,” said Jacks. ‘We also dive a bit deeper into the science behind the need for color on 2-piece aluminum substrates, as opposed to foil.”
Jacks attracted a crowd when speaking at LATAMCAN a year ago. Interest and acceptance of the INX 2-Piece Metal Color Catalog soon escalated. It currently contains over 600 removable metal color swatches and access to those colors using the INX Digital Color Library that is available for Adobe design programs. Over 200 beverage brands, breweries, can makers, design agencies and other beverage marketers understand why it is the only true color standard for metal decorating.
“There is a lot of anticipation for our next color update to the INX Color Catalog and digital color library this spring,” commented Jacks. “These are complimentary updates and will include additional colors to existing registered user catalogs and expand their color options.”
Folloso’s presentation earlier that day on UV Ink Performance as a Function of the UV LED Cure will include insight about the recently developed INXCure PrintPro LED Base System for flat sheet metal decorating. Some of the benefits are instant On/Off, lower temperature generation and mercury risk avoidance.
“Some flat sheet printers are converting older print lines or adding a new line using UV LED curing technology,” said Folloso. “New technologies such as UV LED are exciting, but printers need to be aware the same risks still apply if the process is not in control. For example, ink film weights still need to be controlled to achieve full through cure regardless if UV LED or mercury vapor lamps are used.”
Knight will serve as moderator for the closing day panel, How to Properly make a 3-Piece Can. He will discuss which inks are used and why, and four others will talk about the steel, coating and inspection processes and can manufacturing, In his 40-year career, Knight has worked for ink manufacturers, printers and can makers. A renowned speaker, he also has written and published over 50 technical papers for the metal decorating industry and packaging magazines.
