Heidelberg to Launch Die CutterHot-Foiler and Folder Gluer for North American Short-Run Market at Printing United

Friday 06. September 2019 - Exhibiting under the theme Wherever You Are, Go Further, Heidelberg North America will showcase its scalable solutions for the commercial, packaging, and label markets in Booth 10143 at Printing United. Whether maximizing its customers efficiency or helping them grow, Heidelberg has solutions that can take printers further - regardless of the current size or primary market segment of a business.

Aimed at empowering current commercial and folding carton customers to expand into new areas of business, Heidelberg will premiere its new Digimatrix 60 FC die cutter and hot-foiler as well as the Diana Go 85 folder gluer – both machines aimed at short run and digital packaging solutions – at the first Printing United Expo in Dallas, TX, October 23-25, 2019.
Digimatrix and Diana Go: Short-Run Packaging Solutions for Commercial Printers and Converters
For commercial printers looking to bring finishing solutions in-house or converters trying to find an economical solution for short runs, justifying the cost of a dedicated die cutter and/or folder gluer can be difficult. A flexible, small format die cutter and foil stamper, Heidelberg’s new Digimatrix 60 FC is an ideal answer for digital run lengths. With a very small footprint, the Digimatrix runs up to 5,500 sheets per hour and can process sheets up to 23.6″ x 17.7″ – perfect for finishing a variety of short run or small format jobs. The foiling version of the machine (FC) allows for hot-foiling on a wide array of substrates. The machine can be equipped with Masterset, which registers each sheet individually via print marks for excellent print-to-cut registration allowing easy processing of digitally printed sheets.
Heidelberg’s new Diana Go 85, a cost-effective, flexible and productive folder-gluer, is making its US debut at Printing United. At less than 33 ft. in length, the Diana Go can produce cartons at speeds up to 250 m/min (820 ft./min) and a width up to 33.4 inches. The Diana Go handles a variety of carton styles such as straight-line and lock-bottom cartons, as well as special styles with attachments, such as envelopes or even presentation folders. The Diana Go fits well in most short run, digital and/or commercial environments due to its compact design and versatility.
Digital Packaging Walkthrough & Heidelberg Scalable Solutions
The Digimatrix and Diana Go will join forces with the Versafire EP digital press and Prinect workflow in a live Digital Packaging Walkthrough each day at Printing United. The Versafire EP toner-based digital press can run at speeds up to 135 letter pages per minute and print up to 13″ x 49″ sheets. Capable of printing on 24 point stock plus a variety of synthetics, the Versafire EP is the perfect choice for short run and variable commercial, packaging or even label work.
The Digital Packaging Walkthrough will demonstrate one packaging job from start to finish using just the equipment in the booth. The job will tie into the rest of the printed applications shown in Heidelberg’s booth, which feature commercial, packaging, and label jobs all produced for the same microbrewery and all produced on Heidelberg’s full portfolio of equipment. The goal of both the applications and Digital Packaging Walkthrough is to showcase Heidelberg’s “scalable solutions” – meaning that regardless of the size or type of printing business, Heidelberg has solutions from prepress through finishing with the flexibility to grow with customers as their businesses change.
Heidelberg’s vast portfolio of products and services has grown drastically over the years – well beyond the sheetfed “iron” it is historically known for. Joining efforts with companies like Masterwork has grown Heidelberg’s postpress packaging presence. And most recently, through its integration with Gallus, Heidelberg can help customers enter and grow in label printing. Heidelberg is also in the unique position of being able to seamlessly connect each part of its product line together using Prinect workflow – giving customers the ability to control and optimize themselves intelligently to help maximize efficiency and output.
More from Heidelberg at the Show
In addition the Versafire EP, Digimatrix, and Diana Go, Heidelberg will also have stations in its booth for demonstrations of its Prinect Production Manager and Business Manager in addition to its Lifecycle Solutions including the Heidelberg eShop and Heidelberg Assistant platforms.
