Raising the level of packaging supply for the African market

Tuesday 30. October 2018 - From a Garage in Omaha in 1898, Berlin Packaging Continues Worldwide Expansion by Adding a New Continent

Berlin Packaging, a $2.6 billion supplier of rigid packaging products and services to customers of all types across all sectors, continues to build its global operations with increased resources and team members dedicated to the rapidly growing African market.
The company is a leading player in the North American market (headquartered in Chicago), with more than 100 locations nationwide and where it has operated for 120 years. In Europe, with headquarters in Milan, Italy, the company has been growing organically by double digits and through acquisitions in Italy, France, Spain and, most recently, in England and Scotland. The company’s global footprint now extends not only throughout North America and Europe but to China and now South Africa. The H. Erben Ltd. acquisition in the United Kingdom earlier this year marks Berlin’s eighth overall since 2010.
Now operating under the name Bruni Erben South Africa, having a core business in the wine, spirits and beer packaging sectors, the company builds on 13 years of strong growth by supplying innovative packaging products, machinery and income-boosting solutions for vineyards and drinks producers throughout the region.
With a tight supply chain that includes local decorating options for closures, Bruni Erben has effectively responded to the record growth of the South African wine market, now one of the world’s largest with exports over 450 million liters per year. Bruni Erben South Africa will soon relocate to a larger premise in Montague Park, Cape Town, to create even more space for the team, inventory and decorating equipment.
Bruni Erben South Africa has also named Andre Barnard as the general manager. Barnard brings deep packaging experience from Gaula and Nampak Glass. He is already working to further strengthen Bruni Erben South Africa’s offering and results, as he draws on the company’s expansive global network of sourcing partners to lower costs and ensure quality products for customers.
“Andre’s addition provides a huge boost to our operation as we continue to grow and service new customers, especially in the wine market,” stated Steve Bell, managing director at Bruni Erben South Africa. “Andre will help us further our mission to help companies become more profitable through our packaging products and services.”
