HP introduces wide tabletop print engine for direct-to-package printing

Thursday 27. September 2018 - At FachPack, HP Inc. announced a new wide tabletop print engine for OEMs to design on-demand specialty packaging solutions. The HP OEM Fixed Imager 1000 by HP Specialty Printing Systems (SPS) enables convenient in-plant or print service provider printing on a wide range of applications including gift and shopping bags, personalised gift boxes, shipping packaging, cartons, and envelopes.

The highly versatile HP F1-1000 print engine introduces a 297.18 mm (11.7 inch) wide print swath, offering a large image area for color printing on variable lengths of media.
“This wider print engine can deliver more elaborate on-demand color packaging and commercial printing applications for short-run, personalized direct to package printing. In Hall 5, Stand 231 at FachPack 2018,  HP is presenting a wide portfolio of labels and packaging solutions from HP SPS, HP Indigo and HP PageWide Industrial.
Easy integration into OEM printing systems
The SPS HP F1-1000 print engine can be easily integrated into OEM printing systems and configured to specific applications. Built on HP Thermal Inkjet Technology with thousands of nozzles for high-quality printing at high speeds, the HP FI-1000 also offers:

Also in the HP SPS area at the HP stand, the new wide-swath HP 22mm Printhead will be printing live. It prints stitch-free product identification and marking applications for secondary packaging, including pharmaceutical labels and cartons, secondary box label replacement, as well as variable data printing. In addition, HP SPS partner UBS Code is presenting their latest product identification printing solution based on HP Thermal Inkjet Technology.
HP SPS is also presenting GMP compliant1 HP 2580 ink, compatible with single and bulk printhead solutions, for food and pharma coding and marking on non-porous surfaces.
HP Indigo digital packaging offering higher sustainability, improved performance and faster time to market
At FachPack, HP Indigo is presenting a range of sustainable packaging solutions, including compostable samples, and fully recyclable pouches printed on the HP Indigo 20000 Digital Press. Samples from HP Indigo customers include Schur Flexibles Uni Packaging (can be found at their booth), and Rootree (formerly SwissPack).
HP experts are also presenting the sustainability advantages of producing flexible packaging on the HP Indigo 20000 Digital Press. The HP solutions offer lower environmental impact compared with analog technologies, including reduced waste and energy consumption, use of recycled and recyclable materials, and a consumables takeback program.
For the first time in Europe, the HP stand will feature commercially produced high-performance flexible packaging printed on the HP Indigo 20000 using the revolutionary Pack Ready Coating technology. Retort packaging will be presented by IMMER Digital and hot fill spout pouches presented by Schur Flexibles Uni Packaging.
Additionally, the first two European converters have adopted the Pack Ready Lamination Solution – LabelProfi of Slovenia, and Martin Peroutka in the Czech Republic.  The Pack Ready Laminator is manufactured and supplied by Karlville, and Pack Ready Lamination Film by certified suppliers.  Pack Ready Lamination for HP Indigo digital presses delivers strong laminate bond strength with zero curing time for immediate pouch converting without the use of adhesives, opening new market opportunities for an environmentally friendly process with short delivery times.
Innovative food-safe corrugated packaging solutions from PageWide
The HP corrugated area will feature packaging digitally printed on the HP PageWide T1100S Digital Press and HP PageWide C500 Press using HP’s water-based food-safe inks.
Yamo Foods will present its success story with the Thimm Group, which produced a corrugated packaging campaign on its HP PageWide T1100S Press.  Thimm supported Yamo Food’s request for a unique unboxing experience, tamper-proof and food-safe packaging, high print quality, individualized designs.
DS Smith Packaging will present its latest HP digitally printed corrugated print samples and displays produced on their new HP PageWide T1190S Digital Press.  DS Smith Packaging recently upgraded its HP PageWide T1100S Digital Press to the HP PageWide T1190S, featuring a 6-color engine and highest-speed productivity up to 300m/minute.
