McGowans Further Cements Durst Partnership With Latest Two-System Investment

Monday 05. March 2018 - Durst, manufacturer of advanced digital production technologies, has supplied two more systems in a 850,000 agreement with long-standing customer McGowans as part of further growth for Irelands biggest digital printer now expanding its presence further into Britain and abroad.

McGowans founder and Managing Director Mal McGowan says the investments in a Durst Rho 512R Plus launched at FESPA in May and a Durst Rho P10 160 are further examples of Durst always being “weapons of choice” in both roll-to-roll and flatbed technologies.
“We have a long and proud history with Durst,” said Mal, “and the relationship with them is perfect. As our customers demand ever-higher quality and faster turnarounds for shorter production runs the need for digital increases even more. The quality and reliability of the Durst systems is outstanding and the machines are virtually maintenance free.”
The Durst P10 160 hybrid six-colour with white machine has gone into McGowans’ Belfast site where turnover has been growing at 25% a year. McGowans has also taken delivery of a Durst Rho 512 Plus 5 meter wide 12 picolitre UV dual and triple roll printers into the Dublin headquarters. The investment for McGowans, which employs 130 people, further opens up new markets for mesh, polyethylene and fabric UV printing.
“The quality has been absolutely fantastic,” said Mal. “I wouldn’t expect anything else. We already have had exceptional quality on our Durst machines, but this takes us on to yet another level. Our customers will certainly notice the difference and the investment will open up new opportunities for our business. Durst provides the most reliable digital technology we have ever bought, either large or small format.”
The new investment takes McGowan’s Durst complement to five machines, the others being a Durst Rho 1330 fully automated machine, a Durst Rho 1312 three-quarter machine and a Durst Rho P10 3.2m roll-to-roll with white machine.
“We looked at other manufacturers, but there was no comparison,” said Mal. “The Belfast site is also strategically important for us in light of Brexit because it gives us manufacturing capabilities in Britain as well as here in Dublin. We’ve made the investments in two more Dursts because our business is growing exponentially.
“Our customers have the highest of expectations with quality, speed and, of course, cost, and we are dedicated always to improving our machinery offering and all-round service. The opportunities are limitless with these latest Durst investments – and we’ll continue to deliver on time every time with the highest standards for our clients.”
Peter Bray, Managing Director of Durst UK and Ireland, said: “McGowans is a long-standing partner and we’re delighted that it has achieved another ‘first’ in Ireland with Durst as it continues to expand its operations both at its headquarters and further afield. With extremely tight deadlines, companies such as McGowans continuously rely on Durst technology to provide state-of-the-art, reliable, high volume and extremely high quality products that we’re proud and delighted to be supplying.”
