Dallas Morning News orders reelstand retrofit from ABB
Friday 28. July 2017 - ABB, one of the leading suppliers of automation solutions for the newspaper industry, has announced a further order for its successful reelstand retrofit concept. This time the order comes from Dallas Morning News, based in Plano, Texas.
The order covers the replacement of the controls and drives on two reelstands on the Wifag OF370 press at the Plano site.
The new control systems are based on ABBs AC500 PLC. The many advantages of this system include its scalability, the ease of handling in a service case and the fact that spare parts are available from both ABB and third-party suppliers worldwide.
The existing drives will be replaced with new ABB ACSM1 motion control drives.
The commissioning of the new systems on the two reelstands will be completed before the end of the year.
