Inkjet & Digital Printing

Book manufacturer Hubert & Co will install Germanys first Screen Truepress Jet520 HD high-speed roll-fed inkjet press in June

Tuesday 27. June 2017 - Citing outstanding quality and high performance as motivators behind the investment, Hubert & Co will also benefit from Screens new versatile inkjet SC inks, compatible with a wide range of paper types including standard offset coated paper with no pre-treatment required.

“Hubert & Co is an end-to-end book maker with a passion for detail,” says Ramona Weiß-Weber, Managing Director of Hubert & Co, “As such, quality is critical. We selected the Screen Truepress Jet520HD press for its outstanding quality even at a minute level, whilst the inks will enable us to work with a diverse range of substrates with a streamlined process. There’s growing demand for high-quality colour books and this latest investment will allow us to leverage that trend and maintain our position as a leading supplier of premium quality books.”

Screen SC inks noticeably reduce bleeding between colours, achieving offset level printing whilst also offering impressive abrasion resistance that makes the most of the original substrate surface texture. Launched at HID 2017 to wide acclaim, the inks are currently available only on the Truepress Jet520HD press.

The Screen Truepress Jet520HD is a high-definition inkjet web press with a true print resolution of 1,200 dpi and precise droplet size control at up to 150 metres per minute. The Truepress Jet520HD achieves the colours, textures, details and solid ink areas expected for high-end publication and commercial work.

“The Screen Truepress Jet520HD produces quality levels that match offset printing, which meant it met our requirement,” says Hubert & Co Technical Director, Jutta Reimann, “However, it was the inks that really convinced us. Delivering that level of quality on coated paper with no pre-treatment, without altering the appearance or the feel of the paper is a significant advantage.”

Complemented by the Hunkeler Dyna Cut system for processing dynamic section lengths and supplements, and the Horizon Smart Finishing solution for folding and collecting, the Screen press line is streamlined, with advanced automation and shorter throughput. A fully integrated inspection system, Screen JetInspection, will ensure exceptional quality and consistency throughout the entire process. Meanwhile, in addition to making fully automated workflow and high-speed variable printing possible, the Screen EQUIOS Universal Workflow allows accurate imposition and spot colour matching to Pantone and HKS colours.

Weiß-Weber concludes, “The book market demands ever more cost and process transparency, with attractive pricing and excellent quality. With this latest investment, Hubert & Co can exceed expectation.”
