Printers Speak Out on LED-UV Technolgy

Thursday 16. March 2017 - Graphco & RMGT are Platinum Sponsors of Print UV Conference At this years Print UV conference, to be held March 29-31, at the Encore Las Vegas, Graphco will be representing RMGT and the Graphic Systems North America (GSNA) dealer network. They will be focusing on promoting the LED-UV print technology.

“This is always an exciting show for us,” said Chris Manley, President of Graphco. “It is a great opportunity for us to educate printers on the benefits of RMGT’s groundbreaking LED-UV technology, and how they can open up new markets and profit centers, while at the same time increasing productivity across the board.”

Graphco has had a number of very successful installations of LED-UV technology in the past year, with customers representing a wide range of print shops, with an even wider range of customer bases. One of those customers is Push Solutions in New Berlin, WI, which had been considering the RMGT technology for several years, taking the time to do their homework before ultimately deciding LED-UV technology was the best investment for their money. “The highest print quality, reliability and responsiveness from our equipment provider were our primary concerns,” commented Brad Flagge, President of Push Solutions. “When Nick [Bova, Vice President] and I looked at the new RMGT 9 Series at Graph Expo 2014, we were very impressed. The vibrant color and instant curing of the sheets with LED-UV and the extremely fast make-ready was a great fit for our production needs. Every RMGT customer we spoke to raved about their experience, from installation to press productivity, so we decided to move forward and buy the 9 Series.”

Productivity was also on the mind of Doug May, President of One Step located in Davenport, IA. “We chose this press because of its LED-UV curing technology. It has a faster speed to market, with no dry time and no coatings needed on 95% of the jobs we run. And then you add in the ability to produce shorter runs cost effectively — it’s application based, but we often produce 6-8 jobs on each press sheet, so at runs as small as 500 sheets, we beat digital by a mile — and it was a great investment.”

Special Editions in Sussex, WI originally invested in the RMGT 9 Series because they needed more capacity and the amount of work the press could produce in a smaller footprint than other comparable models was intriguing to them. But once installed, they found that the LED-UV technology opened new markets they never could have competed in before. “We are bidding on and picking up jobs we wouldn’t have otherwise gotten. We do specialty finishes and coatings now,” noted Brandon Esser, President of Special Editions. “One of the very first jobs we completed was a chemically embossed booklet cover that gave the 3D effect of leaf veins for a seed catalog. Our customer loved the job.”
