New target groups through all-in-one printing and foiling – Konica Minolta introduces MGI METEOR Unlimited Colors

Tuesday 24. January 2017 - Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe GmbH (Konica Minolta) introduces an innovative solution to its industrial printing portfolio: METEOR Unlimited Colors is the only product in the market that combines a printing engine with a high-end foiling solution. Customers can now combine high end CMYK quality with attractive decorative effects to approach an entirely new target group and produce premium products that offer premium margins. The METEOR Unlimited Colors represents Konica Minolta’s step beyond CMYK printing and the company’s strong strategic alliance with MGI.

Since entering the production printing market in 2005, Konica Minolta has built a position of leadership in the mid-production colour printing sector, based on high-end technology as well as a deep understanding of the production printing market and its customers’ needs. Now, Konica Minolta is further establishing its presence in the industrial printing market to create better value and new innovations for its customers’ future business success.

Brilliant printing beyond CMYK

The new combination of CMYK printing and in-line foiling offers a unique proposition to any print provider, as the combination of silver and gold foil plus toner creates eye-catching metallic and shiny effects. With the METEOR Unlimited Colors, Konica Minolta not only goes beyond CMYK but beyond a fifth colour. “The solution can be used either for standard CMYK print jobs or enhance them with hot-foil stamping for the finest finishes on short to medium runs like no other available technology in the market”, states Malwina Hecht, Business Development Manager, Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe.

As a 100% digital printing and finishing solution, customers enjoy maximum flexibility and the ability to produce short runs profitably. METEOR Unlimited Colors therefore is the perfect tool for personalised print jobs, luxury packaging or limited editions as well as producing various versions. The solution is very easy to use and in order to ensure a minimum turnaround time, no additional set-up is required between jobs.

Strong strategic partnership

Konica Minolta and MGI aim to accelerate the innovation and commercialisation of next generation digital printing solutions. The strategic partnership was formed in 2014 and recently Konica Minolta increased its stake in the company to 40.5%. The synergies used by both companies are a response to the market’s demands for decorative printing, in order to provide customers with added-value solutions.
