Rotolito Lombarda group expands digital production capabilities with HP Indigo 12000

Nava Press, print supplier to leading brands in luxury goods, fashion, design and publishing, has installed a new HP Indigo 12000 Digital Press to meet growing demand for its range of high-quality, digitally-printed products. The installation is amongst the first HP presses of this model to go into production in Europe.

The HP Indigo 12000 has been added to Rotolito’s existing fleet of HP Indigo technology. The combination of the new system and the HP Indigo 7800 and 10000 presses, already installed at Nava Press and in the Pioltello printing facility respectively, will enable the Rotolito group to meet increasing demand for its offering of both short print runs and pre-runs, as well as add large format products and packaging to its already extensive product range.

A variety of products, both commercial and editorial, have already been printed with the new press. The first production test was 500 copies of the catalogue published by SBLU Spaziobello for the Oggetto Libro exhibition in Milan (14th to 30th June, at the Cavallerizza), which houses the FAI-Fondo Ambiente Italiano and the periodicals library of the Biblioteca Nazionale Braidense.

Nava Press was the technical sponsor of the exhibition, which this provided an opportunity to compare design books, industrially manufactured with special technical solutions, and artist books which by definition are one-off publications or limited editions.

“The books we produced for this event on our HP Indigo 12000 were of such high-quality, both organisers and delegates were extremely impressed with the standards achievable using digital printing technology,” explained Emanuele Bandecchi, Marketing Manager of Rotolito Lombarda Group. “Being a long-term HP customer, we have come to expect nothing less from its solutions, but this feedback from our customers provides additional confidence in our plans to extend our product portfolio to not only include commercial and publishing products, but also short-run packaging for luxury goods and cosmetics.”

The HP Indigo 12000 prints on substrates as thick as 450 microns and can operate in both multi-shot and one-shot mode, the latter enabling transfer of all colours in a single shot, expanding the press’ media range to include plastics, metalised materials and canvas. The new HP Electroink Primer can be installed in one of seven colour stations to further increase the range of papers to include those most widely used in offset printing.

In addition to its daily output for Nava Press’ customers, in agreement with HP, Nava Press is conducting a series of tests on the new solution, including tests to further define the press’ media printing capabilities.
