PPBs proBOND is used for historic building signage project
Tuesday 14. June 2016 - PPB Ltds proBOND aluminium composite material (ACM) is being used for eye-catching signage displays at an historic 19th century monastery in Manchester.
The printed panels are being used for decorative screens around the building during Gorton Monasterys ongoing restoration programme and the development of its visitor centre.
Manchester-based printer PFI Solutions was commissioned by Imagine CGA Limited to print the decorative panels using graphics that resemble the unique character and beauty of the building and feature brickwork and stained glass images.
The panels give the monastery the opportunity to promote its services. One section of the printed signage also encourages visitor participation by incorporating a viewing hole, which allows the public to peek through and see the progress of the building work.
To achieve the stunning visual results PFI Solutions opted for the PPBs proBOND Digital Aluminium Composite material because of its excellent ink adhesion surface. The company uses two Jetrix UV flatbed curable inkjet printers that are ideally suited to produce bespoke outdoor work of this type. One of the most important requirements is for the ACM to be consistent in quality so excellent results are achieved first time.
PFI sales manager for trade sales Stephen Peet comments: “As a printing company we are used to working with PPBs proBOND, so we know how reliable the material is. The material is always consistently neutral and white, always square and more importantly it is always the right size.”
Excellent performance on the machine was essential with this project. Peet explains: “The panel has to go through the machine and be right the first time. Consistency of the ACM is essential and because of the nature of the inkjet printing if we didnt have this reliability then it could be catastrophic and cost thousands.”
