ebeam Technologies Unveils Industry Firsts for Food Safety and Process Efficiency at drupa 2016

Monday 30. May 2016 - ebeam Technologies, a brand of the COMET Group, will unveil the world’s first ebeam system for curing inkjet inks in Food Contact Materials (FCMs), as well as a new application of ebeam technology that increases the productivity of CI flexo printing at drupa 2016, taking place from 31st May to 10th June in Düsseldorf, Germany.

ebeam Technologies will launch its new ebeam Inkjet Dryer (EID), enabling for the first time the production of inkjet-printed, personalized food packaging without the need for the photoinitiators required in UV-cured inks. An on-stand demonstration will show how EID-enabled inkjet printers can offer food brands variable printing, enabling short runs for market testing and personalization.

Supporting its focus on safer food packaging, ebeam Technologies’ partner, OMET, will demonstrate a new, wide-web (85cm) offset process that harnesses ebeam technology to offer food safe packaging.

Ian Bland, VP Business Development, ebeam Technologies commented: “Companies are looking for ways to differentiate their product and eliminate challenges such as the need for UV photoinitiators in their packaging. At drupa, we will not only unveil new ebeam technology for product individualization, but also demonstrate its benefits with four customer demonstrations. ebeam technology offers innovative solutions to major problems, and we are only just scratching the surface of what will be achievable.”

In another industry first, ebeam Technologies’ partner, Uteco, will demonstrate a new process that combines printing, laminating, and curing steps in a single, highly efficient process that improves throughput and eliminates the need for lengthy drying and storage before conversion.

ebeam Technologies’ presence at drupa 2016 is as both a technology provider and system integrator as a result of the acquisition of wide-web, electron beam specialist PCT Engineered Systems, known for its BroadBeam technology. ebeam Technologies now benefits from a global footprint and an increased offering that includes ebeam modules for OEMs, entire ebeam systems for end-users, as well the automation required upstream and downstream from the electron beam.

Visitors to drupa 2016 will be able to explore how ebeam technology is revolutionizing food safety and process efficiency at the ebeam Technologies stand in Hall 5, # A40. Show attendees can also make an appointment to meet with the ebeam team on our drupa 2016 web page.
