Great trade fair premiere for Follmann

Tuesday 17. May 2016 - The Minden-based company will be presenting its high-quality product and service offering for the printing and packaging industry at this year's drupa in Düsseldorf.

It will be Follmann’s first time as an exhibitor at drupa, the world’s leading trade fair for graphic and industrial print and media and multichannel. From 31 May – 10 June, the family-run business will be exhibiting an impressive range of scent varnishes, water-based printing inks and high-performance adhesives at its drupa trade fair stand (Hall 3 / E76). A particular highlight will be the unveiling of Follmann’s new scent book, which will showcase a wide range of different scent varnishes. Visitors looking for a more in-depth experience can make their way to the KBA stand (Hall 16 / C47) where they will be treated to live demonstrations showing how Follmann’s water-based inks are printed onto flexible packaging film. Follmann’s drupa premiere will be rounded off at the stand of the Printing Inks technical group of the German Paint and Printing Ink Industry Association (Verband der deutschen Lack- und Druckfarbenindustrie) (Hall 13 / B16) with a talk championing the versatility of water-based printing inks.

Scent varnishes enhance marketing impact
Scents have a faster and more intense impact than any other trigger, because they affect the limbic system of the brain where emotions and memories are stored. This makes them a key feature of modern multi-sensory marketing. Follmann offers its customers a huge range of high-quality scent varnishes designed to increase the impact of promotional materials, such as mailings, flyers, postcards or packaging. Scents range from lavender to gingerbread to popcorn – in fact the sky’s virtually the limit when it comes to the FOLCO SCENT range of scent varnishes specially designed by the Minden-based expert for the development and manufacture of speciality chemicals. “In order to provide companies with a clear overview of our huge range of scent varnishes, we have created a new scent book, which we will be launching at the trade fair. This book showcases a selection of our scent varnishes in the form of images, a description of their intended impact and, of course, the scent itself” commented Falk-Arnold Schlutter, Head of Sales for Microencapsulation at Follmann.
One of the key advantages of FOLCO SCENT scent varnishes is their universal compatibility with all common printing processes – sheet-fed offset, web offset, flexographic and screen printing. The fact that the fragrances are packed in microscopic balls and hermetically sealed means that the customer can also determine precisely when and how the scent is released.

Water-based printing inks for flexible packaging
In addition to its scent varnishes, Follmann will also use the drupa to present its wide range of printing inks. With its environmentally friendly FOLCO AQUAFLEX water-based printing ink systems, Follmann offers premium products which have been specially developed for flexographic and gravure printing on pre-treated plastic films, such as PE, PP, PET, PA and OPP. These ink ranges are available for both frontal printing – including on compostable films – and reverse printing (composite films). As such, they meet the highest requirements for processing and make a significant contribution to ecology and sustainability. The ink ranges are characterised by brilliant hues, optimal dot sharpness, high printing speeds, good adhesion, good fastness, high colour intensity, fast drying and easy re-emulsification during the printing process.
Visitors to the KBA stand – Follmann’s partner and world market and technology leader in sheet-fed offset large-format, packaging, newspaper and metal printing – will be able to see for themselves how water-based inks are implemented during the printing process. “We find that practical demonstrations are the best way to showcase our products, so we are delighted that our co-operation with KBA gives us the opportunity to offer drupa visitors a live demonstration of our inks in print” said Frank Schrätz, Head of Sales for Printing Inks at Follmann.
All trade fair visitors are also invited to attend a talk on the versatility of water-based printing inks, held by Follmann in its capacity as a member of the Printing Inks technical group of the German Paint and Printing Ink Industry Association at the Association’s stand (Hall 13 / B16: on 7.6.2016 at 12.30 pm in English and on 9.6.2016 at 4 pm in German).

High-performance adhesives for the paper and packaging industry and the graphics industry
For its third product segment at drupa, Follmann will be presenting its easy-to-use and ultra-economical FOLCOLIT dispersion adhesives and FOLCOMELT hot melt adhesives, specially developed for gluing paper, cardboard, catalogues and brochures. Be it corrugated cardboard, solid board, coated papers, printed or painted surfaces applied via nozzle, glue wheel or roller, Follmann supplies the optimal adhesive for end-of-line packaging, bonding of longitudinal seams, sheet lamination, honeycomb board production and bookbinding applications. “Our adhesives feature great machinability, excellent initial strength and often significantly lower consumption than conventional products”, explained Thomas Bierwirth, Head of Sales for Adhesives at Follmann. “Our very high level of customer satisfaction is due not only to excellent and consistent product quality but also to our comprehensive and flexible range of services.”
