Fujifilm to introduce new Uvistar Hybrid 320 super wide UV press at drupa 2016

Uvistar Hybrid 320

Friday 04. March 2016 - FUJIFILM Corporation (President: Shigehiro Nakajima) has announced the highly anticipated global launch of the new Uvistar Hybrid 320 at drupa 2016. The release of the Uvistar Hybrid 320 is designed to build on Fujifilm’s position as one of the leaders in the super wide format market, providing printers with the very best in high quality, flexible and productive wide format inkjet technology.

Taking centre stage in the wide format area of the Fujifilm stand at drupa 2016, the new Uvistar Hybrid 320 is a 3.2m, combination flatbed and roll printer, capable of producing high quality output at speeds of up to 195 square metres an hour. Utilising Fujifilm’s Dimatix Q-Class printheads and Uvijet UV inks, the Uvistar Hybrid 320 prints full greyscale output at an exceptional quality level and delivers a wide gamut of vibrant colours. The press is available in an eight-channel configuration with CMYK, Lc, Lm, Lk and Orange ink channels which dramatically boosts performance to achieve speeds of up to 195 square metres an hour. A nine channel configuration with White ink is also available.

Several innovative technologies come together in the Uvistar Hybrid 320, providing a breakthrough in the speed, quality and versatility that can be achieved from a hybrid machine, setting the Uvistar Hybrid 320 apart from the competition.

The first innovation is the use of Fujifilm Dimatix Q-Class printheads and VersaDropTM jetting technology. These heads enable the press to image in greyscale with droplet sizes ranging from 10-30 pl, which produce the finest details at the fastest speeds. Taking full advantage of eight ink channels, the Uvistar Hybrid 320 produces outstanding image quality with the inclusion of orange ink increasing the colour gamut by 30 per cent.

Another Uvistar Hybrid 320 innovation is its patented tri-lobal belt and six-zone intelligent vacuum system. This system delivers best-in-class media handling and ensures that all types of substrates track accurately in roll or flatbed mode. Additionally, a dancer bar with spreaders keeps even the most difficult roll media from wrinkling before it enters the print area. Rear pinch rollers engage as rigid material moves from the print area on to the exit tables.

The Uvistar Hybrid 320 also has a ‘continuous board’ capability that increases productivity when feeding multiple sheets of the same stock during production. This feature offers time savings between sheets as the print carriage continues moving. No time is lost due to the carriage returning to its ‘park’ position, requiring the job to be started again.

“The Uvistar Hybrid 320 is set to redefine the thinking about the capabilities of a combination flatbed and roll printer,” says Mike Battersby, Marketing Manager at Fujifilm. “The tri-lobal belt and zoned vacuum systems really minimise the potential for media to skew, which is an inherent problem with most hybrid printers. The accurate media tracking is just one of the reasons that the Uvistar Hybrid 320 is able to print at high speeds and maintain such exceptional quality.”

The wide colour gamut of the Uvistar Hybrid 320 is made possible thanks to Fujifilm’s new Uvijet US high performance ink, with CMYK, Lc, Lm, Lk, and Orange in the standard ink set. The lights and Orange expand the colour gamut to match challenging Pantone and corporate brand colours, while the highly opaque White provides excellent coverage, with the ink set delivering excellent adhesion to a broad range of substrates.

“The Uvistar Hybrid 320 is more than just another great addition to our wide format line-up” adds Battersby. “It’s the vital next step in ensuring that Fujifilm’s complete portfolio of wide format products deliver the necessary solutions to all customers – regardless of their needs in terms of print size, turnaround time or run volume. From the Acuity mid-range roll and flatbed ensemble, to the Inca Onset X Series high-end flatbed, Fujifilm is delivering on its objective to provide new solutions that feature the very latest inkjet technology to suit every printer’s needs. The new Uvistar Hybrid 320 is the logical next step in this journey and it ensures that printers in the super wide market maintain access to the very latest technology in order to maximise quality and productivity, and grow their businesses.”
