Monday 10. November 2014 - Another heatset press from manroland web systems produces target group specific catalogues faster and more efficient

Bechtle Druck & Service in Esslingen sets a sign and invests in a ROTOMAN DirectDrive, which will go into production in 2015. Due to this, the specialized commercial printer is now also able to print short run catalogues and supplements more cost effectively and to supply customers in a more flexible way.
The media company still perches on press technology from Augsburg; in the future, the catalogues, brochures, supplements and annual reports will be printed on a new ROTOMAN DirectDrive from manroland web systems in Esslingen. The heatset press is supposed to go into production in the second half of 2015 and will further strengthen the market position of Bechtle Druck & Service as against the competition. Dr. Werner Schumacher, Managing Director at Bechtle feels confident about this: “In the future, the production will be more efficient, flexible and cost-effective. This is enabled by short makeready times, low waste rates and the high production speed of the ROTOMAN DirectDrive. Due to this, we can serve our domestic customers and the customers abroad in an optimum way.”
Always Having the Eye on the Latest
Realizing Augmented-Reality and E-Paper solutions or the excellent print impression of the hybrid grid pattern technology: Bechtle Druck & Service has noticed the requirements of the customers very early and upgraded the service offerings with in-house developments. Either mentally or technically – the printer from Esslingen has always been in the fore. In 2004 the Database Publishing Department was established. Since then, publications as catalogues, magazines and flysheets can be produced multilingual, supported by a data base. What is a general benefit for the customer is the broadness of the services of Bechtle.
Small and Very Big
Bechtle has shown experiences in newspaper printing and the printing industry in general for 146 years now. Bechtle Verlag & Druck prints the Esslinger Zeitung, further advertising sheets and newspaper products on several COLORMAN presses and one GEOMAN press. The basically specialized commercial printer Bechtle Druck & Service is mainly prepared for producing magazines and catalogues. What is very important for the business model are short and smallest runs. The new ROTOMAN DirectDrive replaces a press of the same model range from 1998. Additionally another ROTOMAN press from 2001 produces amongst other things even annual reports, which normally is a domain of sheetfed or digital printing. It seems like once a printer is convinced by the ROTOMAN technology he will never do his job without it anymore. Markus Bader, Sales Manager at manroland web systems does not seem astonished: “Bechtle likes to be one step ahead, now the printer invests in a ROTOMAN DirectDrive with DynaChange technology for flying imprint changes. This new efficiency in short run printing was as well convincing as the long-term partnership of our two companies. Both arguments have encouraged the recent decision for the investment.”
Variety wherever you look
The ROTOMAN DirectDrive is high performing with a speed of up to 65,000 cylinder revolutions per hour, a web width of 965 mm and autoprint functionality. These and also the quality assuring Inline Control Systems for cut-off register, color register and density control enable a highly automated reproducibility with little effort. This relieves the operator. With a fifth printing unit the press is well prepared for fully automatic version and signature change with DynaChange as well as for finishing options like varnishing or spot color printing. What is also highly flexible is the paper selection, including higher grammage of up to 150 g/qm. The folder of the ROTOMAN DirectDrive is equipped with a 2nd cross fold for producing double parallel folds. Furthermore an integrated cutting device at the folder offers the possibility to produce 4×4 pages and 2×8 pages with gripper fold and high lap. Besides, this folding variety offers numerous finishing solutions to Bechtle Druck & Service, inline and at further processing. Also hybrid products – newspapers with high class covers from sheetfed printing – are produced for customers as well as for inhouse publishing objects.
