Why do some printers waste 600,000 sheets per year?
Thursday 30. October 2014 - Printing without a proper process control tool, like pressSIGN, costs the average offset printer more than 600,000 wasted sheets a year.
Since the launch of pressSIGN in 2006 users have reported dramatic make-ready savings. This has always been anecdotal evidence and a couple of weeks ago we tried to quantify the impact that pressSIGN and good quality process control was having.
We surveyed a random group of users in the UK, Europe and the USA. We asked them how pressSIGN had effected the make-ready times for their colour critical jobs.
The average number colour critical jobs per week was 70 and that since installation of pressSIGN these users reported a saving of 35% on their make-ready times. This resulted translated into a saving of 169 on wasted sheets and greater press capacity. This kind of saving works out at a saving of 11,380 sheets per week and over 600,000 sheets during a 50 week year.
pressSIGN is, therefore, not only a tool to provide consistently accurate colour but also increases profitability and has a dramatic impact on the printer’s carbon footprint.
Printers who produce for clients who produce work for clients concerned with issues of sustainability can demonstrate through the use of pressSIGN that they are minimizing wastage in both materials and power.
