HEXIS prints for UNESCO World Heritage project
Wednesday 02. July 2014 - HEXIS of Frontignan, France and AVS Communication of Dijon, France are partners in a new UNESCO World Heritage project in the French region of Burgundy: operation Les Climats drew its inspiration from the photo collages of the French street artiste JR.
The purpose of the operation is to display a gigantic puzzle on the town centre square made of the photographic portraits of every person that supports the application of Les Climats de Bourgogne vineyards to become a UNESCO World Heritage site.?The portraits are printed on HEXIS self-adhesive vinyl film using a large format inkjet printer and are applied directly on the square’s cobblestones. The objective is to assemble a patchwork of portraits reproducing an image of the geographical patchwork of vineyards in the Climats.?Taking place simultaneously in the two cities of Dijon and Beaune the shape of the artwork closely resembles the geographical contours of the two wine regions of Côte de Beaune (in Beaune) and Côte de Nuits (in Dijon).?The event took place over a weekend in June and met with wide popular support from the residents and both local and national press and TV stations: indeed the public in both cities was invited to walk the map and explore the different vineyards of the Beaune and Dijon wine regions. The virtual landscape mentioned each of the villages including their classified Crus represented by different colours.?AVS Communication teamed up with HEXIS to produce the prints on the HX3000WG2 self-adhesive vinyl film made by HEXIS.?
