Canon launches new Océ VarioStream 4000 for enhanced flexibility

Thursday 22. May 2014 - Canon Europe, a leader in imaging solutions, has launched the Océ VarioStream 4000, one of its most versatile printing systems to date. A new designed toner-based, monochrome simplex/duplex continuous feed solution, the Océ VarioStream 4000 has been developed for enhanced flexibility in Corporate Data Centres, Print Service Providers and Commercial Printing companies with mid to very high print volumes.

New toner-based, mono simplex/duplex continuous feed solution for mid to very high volumes
Speed range of 180 to 1,200ppm ideal for transactional, transpromo and direct mail applications
The latest addition to the VarioStream product range can be easily configured for a multitude of purposes, operating as a cost-efficient high production press, a high quality press for graphic art applications or as an MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) capable system. With a speed range between 180 to 1,200 ppm and A4 simplex and duplex printing in two-up mode, the continuous feed VarioStream is ideal for transactional, transpromotional and direct mail applications.
Combining established standards and ground-breaking technology in a new concept, the VarioStream 4000 offers flexibility, which is unrivalled in the market. Configurable as a simplex or duplex printing system, the VarioStream 4000 incorporates a number of proven Océ technology features for superior performance across all jobs. The Océ Quick Change Developer Station enables the operator to easily switch between applications, while Océ Enhanced Print Quality – an innovative toner transfer technique – underpins delivery of high quality graphics at high speeds on a wide range of different substrates, including pinless and pinfeed paper.
Automatic resolution detection and switching support 240, 300 and 600 dpi data streams (including mixed resolutions) and help operators switch between print jobs without the need for intervention. The press can also be integrated with an internal stacker to handle paper and forms, with or without feedholes, coming from stacks or from rolls.
Equipped with the latest powerful SRA controller technology, customers can integrate the Océ VarioStream 4000 alongside other Canon continuous feed machines in their production lines. Even print jobs that are ordinarily produced on a digital colour press can be printed on the VarioStream 4000 without pre-press modification. It can also be used to proof prints or as a backup for Canon’s high-performance inkjet printers. Additionally, the state-of-the-art graphic user interface provides easy, intuitive operation, resulting in availability and efficiency with minimal set-up times and considerably increased overall productivity. Support for the interchange set IS/3 is also included to enhance operational efficiency and provide a higher level of interoperability between AFP products.
“In all work environments, businesses are always looking to streamline costs and drive production efficiencies where possible,” explains Peter Wolff, Director, Commercial Printing Group, Canon Europe. “The development of the Océ VarioStream 4000 as a highly productive, multi-function machine achieves these objectives and more. It has been designed specifically for time and cost-conscious in-house data centres and commercial printers, who need to aggregate various print applications through one device, broaden their service offering and increase print volumes cost-effectively and quickly.”
