Tribune Names David Giambruno As Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer

Wednesday 04. December 2013 - Tribune Company today announced the appointment of David Giambruno as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. Giambruno will be responsible for leading all aspects of the company's information technology infrastructure and application environment. Giambruno will begin his new duties immediately and will report to Steven Berns, Tribune's Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer.

“David brings a proven record of innovation and leadership across technology applications, infrastructure, security and operations,” said Berns. “His breadth and depth of knowledge and experience will be vital in supporting Tribune’s business strategies.”
Prior to joining Tribune, Giambruno was CIO at Revlon from 2006 to 2013, where he led the transformation of all aspects of the technology infrastructure and applications in supporting the company’s business strategies. He has been widely acknowledged by other CIOs in the consumer products sector, as well as leading technology players, for the outcomes he delivered at Revlon.
“I am excited to join Tribune’s management team to lead the technology function in support of the company’s business strategies,” said Giambruno. “The media sector is extremely dynamic and technology will play a key role in successfully achieving the company’s broadcasting, content, digital and publishing initiatives.” Giambruno will be based in Tribune’s New York offices.
Prior to Revlon, Giambruno was Director of Global Engineering, Security & Deployment for Pitney Bowes, Inc., where he built global security capabilities and frameworks, managing FDIC, PCI, HIPPA, and SOX compliance. Before joining Pitney Bowes, he held a variety of technology and operating roles in businesses undergoing transformations. Giambruno possesses extensive expertise across the technology landscape, which combined with his other business experiences, positions him as a valuable partner in working with operations, product development, distribution, mergers and acquisition teams, sales and marketing, human resources and finance.
Ghalib Kassam, will assume the role of EVP, Information Technology for Tribune Publishing, and report to Giambruno. Kassam will continue to work from the company’s Chicago and Los Angeles offices.
