imageFORMULA ScanFront 330

Wednesday 25. September 2013 - Canon Europe, world-leader in imaging solutions, today launches the imageFORMULA ScanFront 330, a compact and intuitive network scanner for fast, easy and secure document scanning and processing. Positioned for ad-hoc and transactional data capture in large corporate departments, local offices and customer service points, the new device enables more efficient document sharing and processing, raising productivity and reducing IT costs.

Succeeding Canon’s market leading imageFORMULA ScanFront 300 and 300P models, the ScanFront 330 offers several versatile file sending options which save time and increase convenience when scanning, including scanning to networked folders, email, FTP, fax, print and USB memory. Users can also set up scan jobs which allow them to scan to multiple destinations in one operation. In addition, the new ’email-me’ feature allows users to quickly scan and mail documents to themselves, while the new ‘ad-hoc fax’ feature enables them to simply scan to a fax number which they enter at the time of scanning.
The productive imageFORMULA ScanFront 330 scans up to 60ipm and includes a newly-designed feed roller mechanism, which increases the feeding and separation reliability when scanning batches of mixed documents. Supported by its straight-through paper path, the device is capable of scanning a variety of documents, from thin to thick card, ID cards, and even documents of A3 size (using folio mode) and up to 1m long. In addition, it includes an ultrasonic double feed detection sensor to help prevent any important documents not being captured.
A new web-based software development kit (SDK) is available for the imageFORMULA ScanFront 330, allowing developers to easily create personalised connected “capture apps”. Developers can make full use of the scanner’s capability of transferring metadata in CSV or XML format with the image file when creating new and streamlined ways of integrating data into existing document management processes.
The imageFORMULA ScanFront 330 incorporates a set of advanced security features, including secure device access, setting user control restrictions and encrypting documents with password protection. It now also supports LDAP over SSL communication (LDAPS) that encrypts data sent between the LDAP client and the LDAP server further adding to its robust security features.
Sean Suematsu, European Document Scanning Solutions Director at Canon Europe, comments: “In our Office Insights 2013 report, two-thirds of respondents said they want greater document security and value automatic capturing and processing of scanned documents; and over half would like to be able to personalise the functions of the office equipment they use. Our new imageFORMULA ScanFront 330 meets this demand through its high priority security approach and features that enable organisations to improve the way they capture and enter document-based information into their business workflows.”
Sean Suematsu continues: “The way we work is evolving at a tremendous pace, especially in the finance, healthcare and retail sectors. In, the future we will see people, technology and information intertwined even more. Network scanners play a crucial part in establishing this level of connectivity. They bring teams closer together and help to reduce cost and improve customer service.”
Canon’s new network scanner can also help companies to drive down their IT costs through its fast and easy administration. Any updates or configurations can be done remotely using a simple web browser or across multiple devices simultaneously using the ScanFront Administration Tool. The device plugs directly into the network and can run as a standalone scanner not requiring any additional hardware or server software.
The new imageFORMULA ScanFront 330 will be available through all Canon sales offices and selected distributor partners across Europe at the beginning of September 2013.
