Kofax Receives United States Patent for Smart Facsimile Routing

Monday 17. June 2013 - Kofax plc (LSE:KFX), a leading provider of smart process applications for the business critical First Mile of customer interactions, today reported it has been issued patent number 8,451,475 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

The patent covers technology that sends a receipt confirmation for a fax not only to the origin of the fax, but potentially to other recipients based on the content of the fax. The technology was invented to improve the efficiency of fax communications, enabling organizations to improve the speed, accuracy and reliability of information and communications.
“This technology adds intelligence to fax transmissions and confirmations, making the First Mile of business smarter,” said Anthony Macciola, Chief Technology Officer at Kofax. “For example, if the keyword ‘claim’ appears on the fax and some supporting evidence indicates that the fax is indeed a claim document, then a confirmation could be sent to both the sender of the fax and the claims department.”
Kofax has 20 issued U.S. patents and 14 issued foreign patents, and 41 patent applications pending worldwide.
