Trelleborg set to attend Print UV 2013

Friday 01. February 2013 - Leading manufacturer of printing solutions, Trelleborg, will participate in the sixth annual Print UV Conference in Las Vegas, U.S., on March 3 to 6.

As well as speaking about core UV print processes and techniques, Trelleborg representatives will be on hand to answer any questions and discuss the importance of environmentally-friendly print solutions.
George Christian, Vice President of Sales, Trelleborg Printing Solutions, says: “The global UV printing industry continues to experience rapid transformation and growth, and as suppliers we have to respond to changes in the industry.
New methods
“One of those changes is HUV, a new UV printing method in which inks are dried immediately on the surface of the paper using high-efficiency UV light. It’s being adopted quickly as there are no noxious ozone (O3) fumes and printers can work in a clean, environmentally neutral environment. As a leading manufacturer of printing solutions across various segments, we’ve developed a UV printing blanket that enhances print results when used in combination with the HUV printing process.
“We are extremely committed to this more environmentally-friendly technology, and as such, are excited to participating in such an important industry event. The Print UV 13 conference provides the perfect opportunity for us to share our industry expertise and knowledge to those that can benefit from it the most.”
Superior print quality
The Rollin UV-E 17 printing blanket has been created for printers that require exceptional resistance to UV inks and washes. Featuring the latest EPDM blended rubber technology, UV-E 17 offers superior print quality and smash resistance due to its multi-ply fabric carcass with a compressible layer. The blanket also performs well on absorbent and non absorbent substrates.
Developed for commercial, packaging or specialty printers involved with UV printing, the Print UV Conference presents the ideal opportunity for both printers and suppliers to network, learn more about core UV processes and hear case studies from successful UV print initiatives around the world. It is sponsored by leading UV industry suppliers who seek to encourage, promote and sustain the growth of UV printing in the global graphic communications industry.
The conference agenda includes sessions titled “Spotlight on Sheetfed UV Printing” on Monday, “Universal UV Information” on Tuesday and “Spotlight on Flexographic and Wide-Web UV Printing” on Wednesday. There will also be evening networking events.
UV Printing
UV printing differs from conventional printing in that the ink is cured through a photomechanical process instead of by solvents evaporating into the air. When UV inks are exposed to ultraviolet light they turn from a liquid, or paste, to a solid. There is less evaporation of solvents since there is very little absorption of the ink into the stock.
UV printing, therefore, is an excellent way to enable printed material on unusual substrates, plastics and uncoated stocks. Along with being quicker, it is also more cost-effective, and more visually appealing. UV printing is more environmentally-friendly, since there are virtually no chemicals (VOCs) released into the air.
