Sin Chew Daily, Malaysia go for major modernisation

Monday 08. October 2012 - The latest step in Harland Simon's growing relationship with Goss International will see a major modernisation and upgrade programme undertaken at two of Sin Chew Daily's production plants. Sin Chew Daily is the largest Chinese language daily newspaper in Malaysia and one of the largest overall, operating Goss Universal presses at 6 locations around the country.

Following on from the success of projects at Zehnder Print, Switzerland and Arrissala, Morocco Harland Simon and Goss International will again work closely together on their third project, to replace the ageing and obsolete parts of the original Rockwell Automation press control systems. The technical project team from Sin Chew visited the installation at Zehnder before deciding that the system offered by Harland Simon and Goss best suited their requirements to update their installations to the latest standards.
The project includes work at two of Sin Chew’s sites and each will be equipped with the latest version of Harland Simon’s industry acclaimed management system; Prima MS, and its associated RIPSet presetting module. The presses themselves will each be equipped with four of Harland Simon’s easy to use Prima 6000 consoles each of which will be supplied with a soft proofing screen to further streamline production operations.
The four presses at the Kuala Lumpur head office & Johore regional site and their associated sixteen consoles will make it the largest Prima 6000 installation in the world. The control system will be built on Harland Simon’s well-established PressNet technology which is based upon industry standard PLC, PC and Ethernet technology.
Harland Simon’s Rob Watson, Sales director commented “We are pleased to be working on another collaborative project with the team at Goss International and look forward to completing the project in 2013.”
