DIGILINE Versa: a new standard in variable packaging printing

Thursday 04. October 2012 - At FachPack Atlantic Zeiser is presenting its most flexible end-to-end solution to date under the slogan 'Beyond Printing'. The new DIGILINE Versa is ideal for complex yet secure printing of folding cartons and 3D products tackling fast job changes and minimal makeready times. It enables small batches to be labelled cost-effectively with variable data and in various formats - while providing verification and a waste gate for zero-error production.

At FachPack 2012, the Atlantic Zeiser Group – a leading developer and supplier of modules and integrated end-to-end solutions for industrial digital and security printing – will be focusing on versatile, industry-specific digital printing solutions for coding, serialisation, customisation and printing in variable packaging formats. Atlantic Zeiser will also show how to maximise the profitability of small print jobs with flexible labelling solutions. The technology highlight is the show debut of the DIGILINE Versa, based on a new module concept. The system’s modular integration of machine components, such as the feeder and waste gate on an upgraded transport unit, ensures it is adaptable to individual customer requirements for coding different packaging formats with variable data. The new transport unit features even quieter running and in combination with DoD inkjet technology from Atlantic Zeiser, ensures a quality of printed image that is without equal in the coding marketplace.
New module concept with DIGILINE Versa
High-quality packaging is a critical factor for cosmetics and pharmaceutical companies, especially in terms of protecting brand value. This includes the quality of labelling and coding. In addition to the visual impact on the consumer, a high-quality printed image is essential to machine readability in the product tracking process.
At FachPack, Atlantic Zeiser will be showcasing the DIGILINE Versa 300 with integrated Longford feeder for variable folding box formats, the OMEGA 36i inkjet digital printer combined with the eco-friendly air-cooled UV dryer system SMARTCURE AIR, the camera-based verification module VERICAM for checking individual codes and serial numbers on folding boxes, and a waste gate to mechanically remove defective products. With this line-up of features, the solution delivers a zero error rate and 100% end-to-end quality control.
Real added value for end customers
The new DIGILINE Versa is ideal for print service providers, packaging specialists and manufacturers of folding boxes, who can use its greater flexibility in handling different formats and materials to exploit new business opportunities. One example is the secure printing of variable codes and other information required on drugs and pharmaceutical products under future labelling legislation. The modular, fully integrated, standardised system solution delivers high-quality printing results and maximum speed. The software components and ink supply controllers supplied with the system control every stage of printing, verification and the automatic ejection of possible defective products, which are detected and removed during the production process. This improves productivity and cost-efficiency, opening up previously untapped potential for adding value.
The flexible, versatile and scalable system is specially designed for customer and industry requirements. The focus here is on the rapid and high-quality printing of variable data and information, including the most common 1D and 2D barcodes / data matrix codes, special pharmaceutical codes such as Macro 06, verification marks and serial numbers. The increased demand for just-in-time production, serialisation, late-stage customisation and the overprinting of pre-printed products within printing processes is due primarily to necessary cost reductions in the packaging market. These needs can be satisfied through minimised storage costs for pre-printed packaging and the use of a comprehensive software solution to control printing and logistics processes in just-in-time production. This is why optimised printing processes, short response times and minimised makeready times are in demand.
Atlantic Zeiser will be exhibiting solutions for variable packaging printing under the slogan ‘Beyond Printing’ at FachPack in Hall 4, Stand 117.
