Lubrizol Launches BlisterBond Pro-An Advanced Heat Seal Coating for Carded Blister Packaging
Wednesday 01. August 2012 - Innovative aqueous coating offering an alternative to traditional, solvent-based products
The Lubrizol Corporation announces the launch of its new BlisterBond Pro advanced heat seal coating designed specifically for carded blister pack applications. Compatible with rPET, APET, PVC and other common blister types, BlisterBond Pro’s novel aqueous chemistry outperforms solvent-based and aqueous polyurethane dispersion industry benchmarks.
BlisterBond Pro delivers superior performance and application flexibility, is applicable for use in a wide range of bonding temperatures and humidity conditions, and can be used wherever strong seals at low temperatures are required. BlisterBond Pro offers significant, performance-oriented benefits including:
Maximized compatibility with various blister types, especially rPET
Maximized adhesion strength
Enhanced blocking resistance
Enhanced “fill and seal” printing process throughput
Lower VOCs than traditional solvent-based formulations
Minimized variations in production due to humidity and temperature
BlisterBond Pro offers the global consumer packaged goods (CPG) market a strong, efficient and versatile alternative to existing technologies. According to Matt Timmons, global business manager for Lubrizol Performance Coatings, “Lubrizol’s market leading expertise and polymer technology have enabled us to develop packaging coating technology specifically designed to meet the demands of carded blister converters and CPG companies for improved performance and lower in-line processing costs without the VOC challenges of a solvent-based coating,” Timmons says. “When production calls for consistent strengtheven in low temperatures or low humidityBlisterBond Pro is the solution.”
