Zebra Technologies Introduces ZXP Series 3 Card Printer and ZMotif CardStudio at ISC West 2011

Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ZBRA), a global leader in specialty printing, RFID and enterprise location solutions, will introduce the ZXP Series 3 card printer and ZMotif CardStudio design software to the North American market at ISC West (booth #16121). According to IMS Research, the electronic access control market in the Americas is expected to reach $620 million in 2011. Zebras ZXP Series 3 aims to capitalize on this trend by providing businesses with an innovative, secure identification solution for keeping their assets and personnel fully protected.
“The American Society of Employers estimates that 20 percent of every dollar earned by U.S. companies is lost to theft,” said Ram Ramaprasad, director of product management for card printing solutions at Zebra Technologies. “When it comes to security and alleviating such losses, access control is key to managing the flow of personnel and visitors in a facility and monitoring for threats to safety or assets. The ZXP Series 3 card printer is the latest addition to Zebras wide range of turnkey solutions that help organizations protect their people, property and products.”
The ZXP Series 3 is unique to the card printing market, employing several advanced features that provide best-in-class performance at an attractive price point. The ZRaster host-based image processing technology takes advantage of the increased processing power of todays PCs to significantly optimize image and print quality while increasing overall print speed throughput. This permits greater sophistication in the image optimizations without sacrificing printer speed or adding extra cost. Additionally, new Zebra high performance ribbons employ an improved chemical formulation specifically designed for fast high-quality image printing. Zebra is first-to-market with ribbons at this performance level which provide more efficient dye transfer and greater durability under high-speed printing conditions. Both of these innovations work together to provide high image quality and high throughput without compromising reliability or cost.
Also at ISC West, Zebra will introduce the ZMotif CardStudio card design and issuance software suite. The product is Zebras newest card design software application for designing, encoding and printing cards for a variety of markets including ID and access control cards, gift cards, loyalty and club cards, school identification and library cards, and visitor badges. This software is optimized for all Zebra card printers including: direct-to-card, retransfer, current and legacy models, and contains many new features and benefits for anyone looking to design and print cards. New capabilities and features such as a new software-only license manager, and Direct-to-Print (D2P) technology demonstrate Zebras commitment to deliver and innovate productivity software for ID cards across a wide range of industries and hardware/software solutions.
Zebra is also highlighted as one of Ciscos newest Ecosystem partners in support of the Cisco Physical Access Control Solution. The Zebra ZXP Series printers allow CISCO Physical Access Manager users to quickly print and encode the highest quality photo ID cards. By tightly integrating physical access control with the ID card printing and encoding process, companies can ensure the link between physical access permissions and actual card holder identity.
