JET AIRWAYS TAKES THE NEXT STEP IN CUSTOMER INNOVATION WITH MOBILE BARCODES
Wednesday 12. January 2011 - Quick Response (QR) Barcodes will allow guests immediate access to digital Information using their smartphones
Jet Airways, India’s premiere International airline, today announced that it had adopted the very latest in Quick Response (QR) mobile code technology to disseminate more information about its products and services to its guests.
This initiative makes Jet Airways the first airline in India to utilize barcode technology to disseminate real time information on its products and services to its customers.
India’s premier airline has commenced the use of 3GVision’s i-nigma 2D mobile barcode solutions on its website, JetWings – its in-flight magazine and on FaceBook posts to allow guests access to real time digital information. In the second phase, Jet Airways also plans to include the quick response barcodes on their eTickets as well.
To revolutionize the way Jet Airways guests connect to the mobile internet, the i-nigma reader can be obtained by them in three easy ways:
On the mobile web – Visit “i-nigma.mobi” on a mobile phone to download i-nigma reader. i-nigma will automatically identify the respective handset type.
By SMS – Text i-nigma to +449997 882325 (or 07797 882325 in the UK) and a link will be sent directly to the guest’s mobile phone.
By visiting the phone’s application store online and search for “i-nigma.”
Once scanned by pointing the individual’s handset to the barcode, the technology will automatically direct the guest to the mobile internet site, making it easy to navigate through the airline’s editorial content and promotional offers and services.
Mr. Sudheer Raghavan, CCO, Jet Airways, said “The quick response barcode is yet another customer centric innovation by India’s premier international airline for the benefit of its guests. Quick Response Barcodes provide an effective and responsive platform to facilitate a high level of engagement with our guests. Especially, since this technology harnesses the power of digital information, giving guests on the move, all the information they need, on their handsets. Placing the barcodes in our magazine serves to further the editorial conversation with our travelers through value-add information and services.”
Mendy Mendelsohn, CEO of 3GVision, commented: “Already an established technology in Japan, QR codes are set to receive a boost in India as the market for mobile services grows every day with the adoption of powerful mobile devices”. He further mentioned, “Consumers have an ongoing appetite for innovative digital content that complements editorial and barcodes provide an effective and responsive platform to provide a high level of engagement with readers.”
As a part of the collaboration, 3GVision will provide Jet Airways with access to its campaign management platform which enables real-time reporting on metrics including approximate response location, time and media types responded to.
The i-nigma reader supports more than 450 types of GSM mobile phones, across all leading mobile operating systems and platforms: Java, Symbian, S60/UIQ, Windows Mobile, iPhone, BlackBerry and Brew.
