Possehl Expands Its SME Division via Additional Acquisition
Thursday 18. November 2010 - Possehl Mittelstandsbeteiligungen GmbH & Co. KG, a 100% subsidiary of the Lübeck-based L. Possehl & Co. mbH, will acquire a majority of the shares in DMA Maschinen- und Anlagenbau GmbH & Co. KG, based in Höxter, Germany. The corresponding purchase agreement has already been signed. The acquisition is now only awaiting approval by the German Federal Cartel Office.
DMA Maschinen- und Anlagenbau GmbH & Co. KG constructs, manufactures, and assembles premium conveying technology for the container glass industry and many areas of the food industry. The special-purpose machine manufacturer’s product range also includes cooling systems for milk-processing companies and storage equipment for all processing industries. The machines and equipment produced by DMA are used all over the world. The company employs about 90 staff members at the site in Höxter.
With the sale of initially 80% of the shares in DMA to Possehl, the 57-year-old company founder and until now sole shareholder Wilhelm Dütemeyer intends to safeguard the company’s long-term future at an early date and preserve its established culture and identity as a medium-sized business. Mr. Dütemeyer will continue to lead the company as Managing Director.
Hans-Jürgen Groth, Managing Director of Possehl Mittelstandsbeteiligungen GmbH & Co. KG, commented: “With the acquisition of a majority shareholding in DMA, we have once again demonstrated that Possehl is a very attractive shareholder for SMEs. The values we live by – particularly sustainability, durability, and the preservation of an individual company’s identity – are clearly decisive criteria for medium-sized companies in the selection of a new owner. In this respect, we set ourselves apart from most of our competitors.” The majority acquisition of DMA represents the fourth acquisition for Possehl’s SME division in this fiscal year.
