Friday 22. October 2010 - Enables small quantities to be produced and delivered cost-effectively ; Overseas publishers able to reach ex-pat communities on publication day

Newsfax International Ltd. (Newsfax) plans to start printing newspapers digitally in London, in full colour, on a Kodak Versamark inkjet system, the company has announced.

Newsfax already prints a large number of both international and UK-based newspapers in London. “The new digital installation is planned to complement the service we offer to our higher volume publishers,” said Tom Johnson, Managing Director of Newsfax. “The target market for this equipment is quantities ranging between 100 and 1000 copies of daily and weekly newspapers.”

Newsfax’s print-site in Stratford, next to the new London Olympic site, is planned to house the new machinery. “The close-proximity of the production unit to the centre of London will enable our publishers to deliver their products quickly and cheaply to their markets on publication Day A,” said Jon Dyer, Sales Development Manager at Newsfax. “This facility is planned to provide a fantastic opportunity for publishers from all over the world to print small quantities of their newspapers in full colour for the London market, without prohibitive costs,” he said.

The new Newsfax site in London is planned to mirror the Miller Newsprint Malta Kodak Versamark installation in Malta, following it successfully launching colour newspaper printing using the Kodak equipment. Miller Newsprint Malta owner and CEO, Malcolm Miller, is one of Newsfax’s major investors. “We have been very successful with the machine and now print all the British and foreign press digitally for local distribution on Day A in Malta,” said Malcolm Miller.

Mr. Miller stated he has every confidence that the Newsfax installation would prove to be similarly successful. “The quality of the product and reliability of the system is proven. All our publishers find the reproduction very acceptable and have supported us throughout,” he said.
