Designmaker 2010
Tuesday 21. September 2010 - The theme of the first ever "Designmaker 2010" design competition being held at this year's viscom frankfurt is "Urban Jungle".
The focus is not only on design in this competition, but also on the practicability of the idea. The basic concept is therefore: design plus feasibility.
The object is not to find the most creative designs, rather the designs which can reveal their full effect on a range of different of advertising carriers.
Cars, mugs or even toilet bowls: the aim is to demonstrate the versatility of the motif.
viscom in conjunction with Karl Gröner GmbH and the SEW Akademie are looking for the best overall design concept. Besides the artistic quality, the focus will also be on the consistency of the design when applied to the different media.
The design needs to function in ten different applications:

Requirement: 4c print on roll-up material: format 80 x 200 cm

Requirement: 4c print and/or film cutting
Light box / LED
Requirement: 4c printing
Textile direct printing / transfer
Version 1:
Requirement: Direct textile printing
4c printing on black or white shirt
Version 2:
Requirement: Textile transfer
Mug printing
Requirement: 4c printing with sublimation transfer
Presentation at the viscom
Participants supply the layout, viscom then takes care of the actual transfer to the different carriers.
The best three design ideas, selected by a jury consisting of three of the event’s main sponsors, are then presented in special show where visitors will also judge them. The visitors choose the overall winner, who will receive a range of valuable prizes.

Terms and conditions
The competition primarily addresses to signmakers, graphic companies and advertising agencies that deal with both: the design of motives as well as their advertising realization. Basically, all participants are admitted who feel up to this task.
Data delivery
Your finished data must be delivered as .pdf, .jpg or .eps files with register marks. Clipping paths and data for the plot must be delivered as separate .eps files with register marks. For the evaluation proper installed data is very important, so please attend to color mode, resolution and file size.
