Journal Register Company Expands Advertising Partnership With Yahoo! Into Philadelphia Market

Wednesday 15. September 2010 - Hires National, Retail Directors to Support Digital First Sales Growth

Journal Register Company, a leading local news and information company, is expanding its advertising partnership with Yahoo! to include the Philadelphia market, the nation’s fourth largest DMA.
Journal Register will utilize Yahoo! Inc.’s behavioral and geographical ad targeting system — both on the Company’s websites and on Yahoo! network pages — to deliver messages to customers who have a higher affinity for an advertiser’s product or services based on online activity.
“Our Company is rapidly transforming to a multi-platform news and information company serving our audience and advertisers on the platforms of their choice,” said John Paton, Chief Executive Officer of Journal Register Company. “Our partnership with Yahoo! is a key initiative to successfully deliver on that transformation.”
This expansion, part of the Company’s Digital First growth, positions Journal Register to provide integrated advertising services that are unparalleled in Greater Philadelphia. The Company owns and operates 134 multi-platform products in the market that serve nearly 300 communities.
“This provides our business partners with an expanded reach that is direct and targeted,” said Daniel Sarko, Senior Vice President of Integrated Sales.
In support of the Digital First growth, Journal Register also named Ryan Adams as Director of National Digital Sales and Teresa Goodrich as Director of Retail Advertising.
Mr. Adams has more than 14 years experience in advertising, having worked at DDB Needham Advertising, Forbes Magazine, and, most recently, The Philadelphia Inquirer and Philly.com. Mr. Adams is responsible for digital advertising across The Company’s 324-multiplatform products that reach a monthly audience of nearly 14 million people.
Ms. Goodrich has worked for The Oakland Press in Pontiac, Mich. for more than 19 years, including serving as Automotive Sales Manager, Classified Director and Director of Advertising and Sales. In her new post, Ms. Goodrich will focus on launching new digital products and will lead the Company’s sales efforts with Yahoo! Digital.
