TR Shone switches to Suprasetter CtP for environmental benefits
Wednesday 05. May 2010 - Stockport printer TR Shone has replaced a CtP system from Apex with a Suprasetter A52 device from Heidelberg. The purchase is funded through a consumables deal enabling the company to draw off Saphira Chem-free plates to meet the demands of a short run, response business.
“We wanted an up to date, small footprint machine and knowing how good the Heidelberg service was already our choice was clear cut,” says Paul Garnett, managing director. The Suprasetter gives us a carbon footprint that is just 22% of that of our previous system and with chemistry free plates we cut the cost of both the chemistry and disposal. Its a very flexible system that would allow us to upgrade from B3 to B2 plate size in future if we wanted to.”
The companys finance deal is built around an assumed consumption of 1,200 plates a month but in the first month alone it has purchased 1,950 plates, meaning that its CtP device might be paid off more speedily if the demand continues but safeguards the company against any downturn.
“The software supplied by Heidelberg with the Suprasetter, including the PDF Toolbox, has been fantastic. Files are so manoeuvrable. We can very easily and securely handle all files that are thrown at us and even with the finest screens, 1% and up, we can get a great resolution dot,” says Mr Garnett.
