European Sign Summit at FESPA 2010 to shed light on opportunities
Wednesday 05. May 2010 - Content-rich one day summit programme to debate issues and promote best practice
FESPA has published details of its European Sign Summit 2010, which is being co-hosted with the European Sign Federation (ESF) during FESPA 2010 in Munich (22-26 June 2010).
Full information about the event can be found at a new microsite at www.signsummit.com or via the main FESPA web site at www.fespa.com.
Part of the FESPA Innovate! Programme, the European Sign Summit will take place on site at Messe Munich on Wednesday 23rd June 2010 (the second day of the exhibition), from 11.00h to 18.30h.
The aim of the European Sign Summit is to provide sign makers, or service providers looking to develop their sign making expertise, with high quality information on key issues affecting their business. A host of leading industry thinkers will share their ideas and expertise on current and future trends, the challenges confronting the industry, potential opportunities and sources of innovation.
Delegates will participate in sessions focussing on four key topics:
Matching light sources to application
Effective use of Corporate Identity in Signage
Case study: the Automotive Industry
The Dark Skies Challenge
The event will open with a keynote session delivered by David Pitt, CEO of the Principle Group www.principleglobal.com , an international brand implementation company that brings global brands to life in any environment, anywhere in the world. Davids expertise is in turning brand concepts into reality, translating ideas into three dimensions.
David and other speakers will address burning questions such as: What threat does price competition from overseas suppliers represent? Is the environmental agenda a threat or an opportunity for sign makers? What forthcoming EU legislation will impact on your business in the next twelve months, and how?
Other speakers at the European Sign Summit include ESF Vice President and sign making pioneer Luc Steegmans; Wouter Moons, co-founder of Belgian printed electronics specialist Lumoza; international light source expert Dr Spiros Kitsinelis; and Italian sign, engineering and R&D expert Fausto Martin. Dark Skies campaigner Friedel Pas of the International Dark Sky Association will step into the fray, engaging with the audience of senior sign professionals on the topic of light pollution and best lighting practices.
Commenting on the launch of the European Sign Summit at FESPA 2010, FESPA managing director Frazer Chesterman says: “ESF and FESPA recognise the increasing convergence between the print and sign industries, which has become more apparent in todays challenging climate. Companies can no longer solely concentrate on their primary activities; they need to look at complementary services and products that enable them to provide complete and innovative solutions for clients. ESFs knowledge of the sign industry, teamed with FESPAs expertise in running successful high quality summits for the imaging industry, means the European Sign Summit is set to be an imperative event for the road to recovery and future success.”
The European Sign Summit sessions will be followed by a panel discussion inviting interaction between delegates and speakers, and will conclude with an opportunity for delegates to network informally over drinks. The event will be conducted in English, with simultaneous translation available by advance request into French, German, Italian and Spanish.
