Ryobi to Show Five-Colour, Small Footprint B2

Tuesday 04. May 2010 - Apex Digital Graphics, the UK’s official Ryobi distributor, has announced the official UK release of the small footprint B2 press, the Ryobi 785E. The press joins a four-colour version of this compact machine, and follows a five-colour trend set by the recent release of the Ryobi 525GE B3-format machine. Both of these presses will feature on the Ryobi stand at the forthcoming IPEX show (Hall 6 Stand C560).

Ryobi 785E
The popular Ryobi 784E compact four-colour B2 press made its major show debut at IPEX in 2006, and it is therefore quite fitting that its five-colour stable-mate should make its first UK appearance at IPEX 2010. This “compact” family is the ideal way for a printer to move into the B2 market, as it often means that printers can incorporate the small footprint of these machines into their existing premises, rather than having to make the significant investment required to move to a larger site.

“A five-colour machine is now the most popular configuration of both B3 and B2 machines,” said Neil Handforth, Sales and Marketing Director at Apex Digital Graphics. “The majority of printers expect to run four-colour process plus either a special colour or more often a sealer, enabling them to be able to handle the work sooner, moving the printed stock into the finishing department for the next stage of the process.”

The new Ryobi 785E offers a highly competitive specification, including the Ryobi PCS-K Printing Control System built into the press as a further space-saving feature. This system allows centralized control of the main operations and settings, such as ink and water volume control, printing parameter settings, fine adjustment of registration, impression pressure preset, and maintenance information. The incorporation of this system into the delivery end of the press helps to contribute to an overall 40% saving when compared to a typical B2 configuration.

The Ryobi 780 series comes in two sizes: the S type press which offers a maximum printing area of 765 x 545 mm and the XL type press with a maximum printing area of 765 x 580 mm, enabling a wider range of printing applications. The XL version of the press can flexibly handle a wide range of paper from 0.04 mm onion skin to 0.6 mm thick cardboard.

Ryobi 525GE
The Ryobi 525GE B3-format offset press, released in the UK in November 2009, is a compact yet highly automated five-colour press that offers a 40% saving on space taken when compared to other leading five unit B3 configurations. It also claims the lowest power consumption in its class. A numbering and perforating unit can also be added if required.

“IPEX is the perfect opportunity for us to introduce printers to these latest five-colour Ryobi machines,” said Neil Handforth. “The 525 press is from the GE Series of Ryobi machines, meaning that it is a competitively priced model offering excellent features. The low power consumption of the 525GE provides not only cost savings, but also illustrates the press’s green credentials; and the compact nature of the press means that businesses do not necessarily need to move the larger premises just to move into five-colour printing. We already have installations of the two and four colour GE models, so the 525GE compliments the range perfectly”.

The press was first announced at an Apex event to celebrate the company’s 20th year of business and the 35th anniversary of Ryobi’s arrival in the UK. “The initial showing of the product went down very well. IPEX offers us the first opportunity to show the machine to a wider audience,” added Mr Handforth.
