Colour/Coat Communication Devices – including a New High Speed Prototype Gravure Unit to be shown by RK Print at IPEX Hall 6 / E516

Monday 03. May 2010 - RK Print Coat Instruments have designed and developed a wide range of compact colour communication devices that enable printer, converters, consumable providers and many others to meet their customers’ quality standards and maintain those standards throughout the print run and on repeat.

Available to suit most budgets and all main print processes RK will have on show at IPEX a selection of systems, including the multi-tasking FlexiProof 100 and FlexiProof UV. These bench top systems can be used for colour matching, preparation of customer samples, R & D as well as for quality control purposes; to determine printability and ensure commercial viability, etc.

Scaled down but essentially exact in every detail to a full sized flexographic production press, the FlexiProof can even be used for carrying out pilot runs, freeing a production machine up for income generating output.

The FlexiProof UV differs from the FlexiProof 100 in that it incorporates an ultra-compact UV system, enabling users to proof UV flexo inks inline.

RK Print Coat Instruments will also have on display a K101 Control Coater; various hand held print colour communication trouble-shooting devices such as the Esiproof and the Hand K Lox Proofer and a brand new machine – a high-speed prototype gravure unit.
The K101 Control Coater provides quick, highly accurate and repeatable samples of surface coatings and is recommended where repeatability is essential, i.e., computer colour matching or when a number of operators are involved. Coatings can be applied using wire wound bars and vacuum, magnetic, heated and glass beds are available.

The Esiproof is regarded as an indispensable flexo ‘take anywhere – from machine to machine’ unit for the production of solid or half tone flexo proofs. A doctor blade on the anilox roller enables proofing of fine tones and higher viscosity inks such as UV curing flexo inks.

The Hand K Lox Proofer provides users with the simplest method of applying flexo inks and other fluid coating onto any substrate to produce repeatable proofs that closely resemble conventional flexo printing.

RK Print Coat Instruments are taking the opportunity afforded by IPEX to debut a highly versatile and brand new gravure colour communication device for users and producers of gravure inks. Offering speeds of up to 100m/min this innovative new quality control/product monitoring and development tool employs a pneumatically controlled doctor blade and impression roll; PLC operated and controlled, this compact prototype machine is highly functional in its use of engraved plates and its ability to run press ready viscosity inks.

Visitors to RK Print Coat Instruments stand will be able to see a basic example of the VCM (Versatile Converting Machine). Custom built, no two machines are ever the same; the VCM provides users operating across a wide range of industries with a highly functional machine that can be used for developing new coated products, testing substrate receptivity, quality control purposes, specialized PS-tape/label production and the development/production of security related products, etc.

The VCM allows customers to choose from more than 15 different printing and coating systems, including: hot melt, reverse roll, meter bar, rotary screen (printing & coating), gravure-offset (printing & coating), flexo, reverse gravure coating, knife-over-roll, etc.
A number of Versatile Converting Machines have been ordered, built and delivered under conditions of confidentiality to some of the world’s leading manufacturers.
