Heidelberg supports Vision in Print with Lean Champion Passport

Thursday 25. February 2010 - Printers are being encouraged to earn a Heidelberg Lean Champion Passport by attending one to four of the Vision in Print training days created to enable the manager asked to lead the lean manufacturing implementation within a printing or packaging company to supplement existing know-how with additional skills. This will ensure the lean programme is sustainable.

“Often those who are asked to implement lean manufacturing processes within a business have successfully undertaken one or two projects and are committed to the concept but would benefit from having additional tools or skills,” says Richard Gray, director of Vision in Print, part of the BPIF.

“Heidelberg has already shown its commitment to the lean manufacturing concept, demonstrated at its last two open houses. Now it is taking this further by hosting these skills events at its National Showroom in Tamworth. For each day attended the delegate gets an additional stamp in his or her passport.”

The dates and topics covered are:
• 14 April Using data to drive improvement
• 8 July Harnessing the power of teams
• 30 September Seeing opportunities in value streams
• 25 November Managing projects to ensure success

Each of the days runs from 10am to 4pm with lunch provided. Cost per day per delegate is £250 (£225 for BPIF members) plus VAT. For those booking all four days a special rate of £750 (£675 for BPIF members) plus VAT is offered and in addition the company represented will be entitled to a free on site mentoring day by a Vision in Print engineer. The main contact for enquiries or bookings is Ryan O’Neal on 0207 915 8322 or ryan.oneal@bpif.org.uk.

Mark Hogan, marketing manager of Heidelberg UK, says: “All printers, whether they use Heidelberg equipment or not, will be very welcome at these events. We believe printers must adopt lean manufacturing techniques to ensure they have and retain their competitiveness. Vision in Print is doing a great job of getting this message out and providing really professional help.”
