Panther Packaging and the Bobst Group develop new type of flexo-preprint machine

Friday 08. January 2010 - Panther Print GmbH has ordered a new flexo-preprint machine based on a completely new concept from the Bobst subsidiary Fischer & Krecke GmbH, Bielefeld.

The Bobst machine based on Panther specifications is the first direct-drive 8-colour + varnish flexo-preprint machine worldwide featuring a working width of 2.8 metres and a maximum printing speed of 600 m./min. Prior to this new development, highest available speeds were 460 m/min. and the maximum available working width was 2.5 metres. The machine boasts a smart GPS system and is also equipped with a new and innovative tooling system which will be faster and more productive than previous systems.

Printing capacity of this new preprint machine is quoted as approximately 200 million square metres, depending on the order mix.

The machine will be installed in Wustermark (near Berlin) in the direct vicinity of the Wepoba Wellpappenfabrik and Panther Display in an additional completely new building. The investment volume is roughly 17 million Euros.

With this printing-machine innovation and in conjunction with Fischer & Krecke, the Panther Group again sets new standards in the field of flexo-preprinting.

Following investments in flexo-postprint, litho-laminating and digital printing, Panther Packaging aims with this pioneering flexo-preprint project to further consolidate its leading position in the field of high-quality printed packaging.
