KAMA Takes the Plunge “down under”

Wednesday 30. December 2009 - New sales cooperation opens up promising market to Dresden machine manufacturer

KAMA GmbH has entered into a sales cooperation with Heidelberg Australia/New Zealand (HAN) with immediate effect. The move sees the Dresden-based manufacturer’s finishing cutters and folder-gluers distributed across a fifth continent for the first time. The first ProCut 74 finishing die cutter including a hot foil stamping module and a ProFold 74 for folding, gluing and add-on processes will be making their way to Sydney and Melbourne as early as the start of 2010.

Finishing die cutters and folder-gluers “made in Dresden” are poised to win over the Australia/New Zealand market
“After successfully entering the Japanese market last year, we are using this new cooperation to expand our involvement in the Asia-Pacific region,” explains Marcus Tralau, Managing Director at KAMA. In his assessment, the region has been less severely affected by the global crisis than Europe and America.

“The KAMA machines and their wide range of applications for A2 and A3 print finishing fit perfectly into our sales portfolio,” said Andy Jensen, HAN Managing Director. As Markus Tralau points out, “Many printers in the Australasian region see the expansion of their post-press and finishing activities as a chance to use high-end services to increase in-house added value, enhance their profile and stabilise their market position.” This comprises not only the finishing of printed products such as presentation folders, CD cases, displays, calendars and folding cartons, but also the automatic folding and gluing of items at rapid throughput times and consistently high quality. The hot cutting of plastics using KAMA ProCut automatic die cutters is also meeting with keen interest “down under”.

This is a favourable moment for the entry of KAMA products into the Australasian and Pacific Islands market: in addition to the gathering pace of the economic recovery, the last few months have seen exports to the region stimulated by the strength of the Australian dollar.

KAMA GmbH develops and manufactures versatile cutters, folder-gluers and hot foil and hologram stamping modules for the graphics industry. KAMA print processing and finishing machines are in use in over 40 countries.
