callas software gives pdfToolbox 4 product line a speed bump

Monday 30. November 2009 - pdfToolbox 4.4 and pdfToolbox Server 4.4 offer increased performance and improved functionalities

callas software announces the availability of the 4th iteration of its pdfToolbox 4 line of print production oriented PDF tools. Next to full compatibility with the recently released Mac OS X Snow Leopard and Windows 7, pdfToolbox 4.4 and pdfToolbox Server 4.4 bring transparency flattening, a serious performance increase, enhanced impositioning and a new licensing method.

callas is again first in offering real server based transparency flattening for a PDF tool of this range. Before, automated transparency flattening required a copy of Adobe Acrobat and an additional callas pdfAutoOptimizer tool. Now, transparency flattening has been included in pdfToolbox Server 4 – the Windows and Linux versions perform transparency flattening fully server-based, handling both CMYK and spot colors, while keeping most raster, vector and text elements intact. Based on the improvements in pdfAutoOptimizer, callas software also enhanced transparency flattening in pdfToolbox 4 used as a plug-in.

Further highlights:
Enhanced Impositioning
With callas pdfToolbox 4.4 you are only three clicks away from the perfect imposition. callas’ powerful imposition engine combined with an extremely easy-to-use micro-wizard enables users to apply the right imposition set-up without being an imposition professional. Other Switchboard based imposition actions now permit full control of the imposed page on the sheet.

Increased Performance and Usability
callas software has worked hard to further improve processing performance in general and especially for complex and image heavy PDFs. Apart from these internal improvements, pdfToolbox Server also increases speed in combination with Enfocus Switch by combining several processing aspects into one Switch processing step.
New in the pdfToolbox 4 stand-alone application is the introduction of a magnifying glass window for visually examining PDF pages.

Color Conversion
Ever since their release in summer 2009, the latest version of ECI profiles have been widely adopted in current prepress workflows. callas software has reflected the positive reception of these profiles by adding a set of updated DeviceLink profiles to its pdfToolbox 4 desktop version and to pdfToolbox Server/CLI 4. These new profiles will allow the user to convert improperly prepared PDFs to the updated Process Standard Offset (PSO) based printing conditions.

New Software Licensing To Never Lose Your License Again
An improved software licensing will make sure you never lose your license code ever again. You will never have to dig out your license for updates and will be able to easily transfer a license from one machine to another.

Both the desktop and server versions of pdfToolbox 4 are now also based on the latest available Adobe PDF Library for highest compatibility and PDF quality.

Availability and Pricing

callas pdfToolbox 4.4 and callas pdfToolbox Server 4.4 are immediately available for respectively €499 and €3999.
