Success for GWS in Lebanon

Friday 13. November 2009 - An-Nahar newspaper of Lebanon has ordered a KBA newspaper folder and press upgrade at GWS. The ordered KBA jaw folder will be installed as an extension to the existing Harris newspaper press of An-Nahar based in Beirut.

This investment is a first step of a program to improve the existing machines for newspaper production and to utilise the equipment also for commercial applications. By way of adding the KBA jaw folder An-Nahar will be in the position to produce directories and commercial jobs. In addition to the folder delivery GWS of the Netherlands have developed a program to improve the web tension and register stability of the existing press. Amongst other measures GWS will deliver and implement its own web tension application consisting out of shaftless driven modules for accurate web tension control. The systems will be delivered by GWS at the end of 2009; the installation will be carried out during the first quarter of 2010.

GWS supplies commercial press to Graficandes in Chile Sheetfed printer Graficandes in Chile has ordered its first commercial web press at GWS of the Netherlands. Graficandes is known in Chile as a quality sheetfed printer that has built up a strong existence and reputation over the last years. The company growth has forced Graficandes to extend the existing production capacity and recent business studies have justified the investment in a 16-page commercial press. GWS of the Netherlands have been appointed as the supplier of a Heidelberg M600, 5-unit, 16 page presses.
The press system is currently being dismantled and will be ready for shipment at the beginning of December this year. GWS will deliver a total project solution including the supply of all press auxiliaries and the services for dismantling, re-installation, commissioning and training on site in Chile. The press system is expected to be operational in Chile during the second quarter of 2010.
