Méthode news is Facebook-friendly

Tuesday 13. October 2009 - EidosMedia’s Web CMS adds value to news portals for Facebook users.

Interaction with social media such as Facebook is increasingly important for news sites as a way of building traffic and reader loyalty. To enable news organisations to take advantage of this development, EidosMedia’s Méthode Portal Server now allows them to incorporate a number of Facebook-friendly features into their portals.

These include automatic log-in for Facebook users – visitors already logged in to their Facebook accounts enter the news portal without entering their credentials and user data. Information from the Facebook profile can then be used to provide customized content to users.

Once in the news portal, any comments users make to news articles can be shared to their Facebook page with a single click – creating more traffic for the portal as users’ friends visit to see the commented articles.

“The Méthode Portal Server gives news organisations a range of ready-to-use Web 2.0 functionalities on a single platform,” said Angelo Grampa, EidosMedia president. “It lets news organistions take advantage of new developments without incurring internal R&D costs and the Facebook integration is the latest addition to this range.”

“The interaction between news and social media is still in its early stages,” continued Angelo. “This is an area with considerable potential and we will continue to introduce innovative features so that users of the Méthode Portal Server can stay ahead of the game.”

The Facebook integration is one of the new features of the Méthode editorial platform that visitors will be able to experience first-hand at the IfraExpo 2009 trade show in Vienna (October 12-15 – stand A710).
