Wyndeham Gait adds folder power to sell more print

Thursday 24. September 2009 - B1 printer Wyndeham Gait, part of the Wyndeham Press Group, has invested in a fifth folder with a double gatefold unit to enable it to handle an even wider range of work including specific small format, high pagination contracts.

The new Stahlfolder TH 66, which arrives next month, replaces an older machine and means that four out of five folders at the Grimsby site are Heidelberg machines.

“The presetting of jobs and the ease with which you click into the program is the best feature of this machine,” says Dan Dean, production director of the company. “It’s the most money we have ever spent on a folder but we believe the TH 66 buckle folder will give us a good return on investment through increased speeds and faster make readies. Finishing can sell print and, with the double gatefold unit, we are now able to provide an additional service to our customers.”

With the more automated and efficient line up, Wyndeham Gait will be able to reduce its bindery numbers by two without the need for redundancies by deciding not to replace one person who has left and another who is due to retire. The bindery works up to three shifts a day, depending on workload.

Wyndeham Gait supplies customers nationally, with promotional literature, car handbooks, bus and train timetables, books leaflets and looseleaf manuals. The company also offers typesetting, data conversion, printing binding, saddle stitching and a full distribution service and has the complete set of ISO 14001 environmental, ISO 18001 Health & Safety and ISO 9001 quality accreditations as well as FSC and PEFC certification.

The company is part of the Wyndeham Press Group which is one of the UK’s largest printing groups with seven sites across the UK offering comprehensive web offset and sheet-fed printing solutions, pre-media and creative services.
