WEIMA America Introduces the TH Series Briquette Press to the Paper Market

Wednesday 23. September 2009 - WEIMA America is a leader in size reduction technologies which includes both shredding and briquetting equipment. The briquette press has become increasingly popular to compact shredded paper as well as paper dust. In a printing operation a lot of dust is generated from trim scrap and sheeters which is often messy and hard to handle.

The press has the ability to compact this dust into briquettes. Briquettes have a diameter of 2-3″ based on the size of the machine and look quite similar to a hockey puck. There are no glues or adhesives used in the compaction process.

The TH Series units have large 55″ x 55″ or 78″ x 78″ hoppers which allow them to be installed directly under a dust collection system. The machine can be equipped with an auto on/off switch and can be linked directly to the cyclone telling it when to release material into the press. The briquettes can be easily discharged into a gaylord box using plastic tubing or into a carousal bagging system. The main benefit of the press is its ability to compress loose materials and avoid a messy facility. Briquettes also help to reduce the risk of fires which are often cased by ambient dust.
